What You Will Do:   

• Utilize state-of-the-art methodologies in NLP, including fine-tuning and deploying Large Language Models (LLMs).  

• Independently gather requirements and collaborate across data, science, product, engineering, and operations teams to define problems clearly.  

• Develop and own a data science roadmap for the project that aligns business objectives and goals with data science and machine learning metrics.  

• Partner with product and software engineering teams to design, prototype, and test new analytical and model functionalities to quickly meet business objectives.  

• Update code at every relevant level—from ETL processes, through modeling, to model deployment and inference.  

• Build trust with stakeholders by owning communication, reporting roadblocks, and ensuring stakeholders remain confident in the product implementation.  

• Design and implement products and launch experiments.  

• Demonstrated experience in Agile methodologies, including participation in Scrum ceremonies and sprints, and proficient in using Jira for task management and project tracking.

Qualifications

• 3+ Years of industry experience with a focus on end-to-end data science solution delivery.  

• Proven knowledge and experience with state-of-the-art NLP methodologies (transformers, LLMs, RAGs, NER), as well as deep learning and classical machine learning models.  

• Proficient in Python, SQL, and frameworks such as Tensorflow and PyTorch,  containerization and orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes.   

• Proficiency with frameworks for creating ML-based services (such as Streamlit, FastAPI, Flask, Gradio, etc.)  

• Interest and curiosity in all aspects of ML/DS work, from measurements to CI/CD tools such as GitHub actions, ArgoCD and Terraform  

• Team player who can wear multiple hats to accommodate business needs.  

• Knowledge of e-commerce or retail analytics and/or consulting experience is an advantage.  

• Familiarity with AWS cloud computing services such as S3, EC2, and SageMaker is a plus.  

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field (Ph.D. is a plus).

Base pay is one part of our total compensation package. Pay is established on an individual basis after considering multiple factors such as relevant experience, education, and other qualifications. In addition, we take into account geographical differentials and make sure pay is equitable with our current staff. For this position, our hiring range for base annual pay is estimated to be CAD $100,00 to $115,000, at the time of this posting. 

Performance-based discretionary bonuses and variable pay plans are available for some positions.
