WHAT TO EXPECT:

Our 12-week internship program will allow you to take your academic knowledge and apply it in the business world. You will be immersed in our development process and will fully participate in our project teams to deliver real world value to Dialexa and our clients. There will also be time for fun including intern outings and company field trips. You will have the opportunity to learn, make new friends, and build products that you can be proud of. Candidates will be asked to step outside their comfort zone of expertise and explore new technologies and skills. No prior professional experience is required but data engineering exposure is a big plus! Additional things to expect:

  • Fulfilling work on a client project and being a part of a Dialexa team of data scientists and engineers.

DUTIES:

As a data engineering intern, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Assisting data scientists and data engineers in analyzing and processing large datasets.
  • Designing and implementing data-oriented solutions and solving data-related problems such as: formulating data science problems and running machine learning experiments, designing/developing data structures and data flows, etc.
  • Creating and presenting findings and insights with the data team and business stakeholders.

Qualifications:

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Are currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Data Science, Information Systems, Analytics or similar quantitative discipline.
  • Have a developer’s background and some experience coding with Python, SQL, Scala, etc. and/or exposure to working with tools like AWS, Azure, Snowflake, Databricks, Spark, Talend, etc.
  • Have completed relevant class work including data warehousing tools, techniques and technology.
  • Can take initiative in their work and have a self-starter mentality.
  • Show a strong desire to learn more about data engineering.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Have prior work or project experience demonstrating use and proficiency of Data Engineering tools such as AWS, Azure, Snowflake, Databricks, Spark, Talend, etc.
  • Have experience with data analysis and data visualization tools such as Tableau.
  • Demonstrated strong communication, leadership, and presentation skills.
