We take on a variety of problems ranging from shaping long term business strategy with data, making short-term business critical decisions and building algorithms that power our internal and external products.
Lyft has a uniquely diverse and dynamic marketplace, spanning multiple lines of business like Rideshare, Bikes and Fleet. As the Head of Data Science for Risk Modeling at Lyft, you will be responsible for helping Lyft build a robust and secure platform, resilient to both online and offline risks. You will be leading a team of data scientists who will be developing and deploying models to evaluate and mitigate risk across Lyft’s varied lines of business. You’ll partner closely with product, engineering, and business leaders to build and scale our products and systems, shape the long-term strategy and deliver business goals.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and grow a high-performing team of data scientists with diverse skill sets
- Work with cross-functional partners in product, engineering, design, finance, and operations to achieve business goals
- Creating an overall framework to evaluate risk across multiple dimensions
- Developing a consistent framework to trade off risk reduction with potential customer LTV.
- Collaborating with engineering on developing technological capabilities that help secure Lyft’s platform, ranging from NLP to facial recognition.
- Serve as a champion of sound decision-making at all levels of the company
Experience:
- Degree in a quantitative field like statistics, economics, applied math, operations research or engineering (advanced degrees are preferred) or relevant work experience
- 8+ years of hands-on technical experience in a data science role or equivalent
- 4+ years management experience building and leading data science teams
- Strong track record of using data science expertise to improve business outcomes
- Track record of guiding teams through unstructured technical problems to deliver business impact
- Skilled at managing cross-functional relationships and communicating with leadership across multiple teams
- Willingness to collaborate and communicate with others to drive cross-team and cross-organization initiatives forward
- Strongly prefer prior experience in risk management, fraud mitigation or related area
