Data Science is at the heart of Lyft’s products and decision-making. Data Scientists take on a variety of problems ranging from shaping critical business decisions to building algorithms that power our internal and external products. We’re looking for passionate, driven Data Scientists to take on some of the most interesting and impactful problems in ridesharing.

As a Data Scientist, Algorithms, you will be developing mathematical models underpinning the platform’s core services. Compared to other technology companies of a similar size, the set of problems that we tackle is incredibly diverse. An effective solution to these problems cuts across discrete and continuous optimization, inference, and prediction. We are hiring motivated experts in each of these fields. We're looking for someone who is passionate about solving mathematical problems with data, and are excited about working in a fast-paced, innovative and collegial environment.

You will report to a Data Science Manager.

Responsibilities:
  • Partner with Engineers, Product Managers, and Business Partners to frame problems, both mathematically and within the business context
  • Perform exploratory data analysis to gain a deeper understanding of the problem
  • Formulate and productionize statistical, machine learning, or large-scale mathematical optimization models
  • Write production model code; collaborate with Software Engineers to implement algorithms in production
  • Design and implement both simulated and live experiments
  • Analyze experimental and observational data; communicate findings; facilitate launch decisions
Experience:
  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Statistics, Operations Research, Mathematics, Computer Science, or other quantitative fields or related work experience
  • 3+ years professional experience in a technology company setting involving a product 
  • Passion for solving unstructured and non-standard mathematical problems
  • End-to-end experience with data, including querying, aggregation, analysis, and visualization
  • Proficiency with Python, or another interpreted programming language like R or Matlab
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with others to solve a problem

This role is work-from-anywhere, excluding the following states and all U.S. territories: Kansas, Mississippi, Oklahoma, West Virginia, Puerto Rico.

For candidates living in Colorado the expected base pay range is $130,240-$151,800, depending on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location.
