Job Description Qualifications:

The Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) team is seeking a Systems Engineer to support Space Battle Management, Command and Control (SBMC2) programs in Colorado Springs, CO.

The Systems Engineer as part of a high-performing team will have opportunity to contribute to development and delivery of innovative software solutions in an agile software environment interfacing with internal and external stakeholders; including a Joint Industry partnership Team (JIPT) and Working Groups, contributing to design and development of next generation ground command and control capabilities.

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Associate and Experienced Level Systems Engineer.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Support definition of requirements, interfaces, and concept of operations through supporting and/or chairing working group meetings. Understand and communicate prioritization of efforts to multi-disciplinary team

  • Development of a simulation platform that provides a testing, training, mission rehearsal and evaluation platform for operators

  • Think abstractly and see the big picture while evaluating technical details

  • Technical analyses to create and validate models of system behavior; identify solutions to complex problems

  • Serve as a direct interface to both internal and external customers

  • Conduct and support trade studies

  • Communicate across multiple functional groups (ex. Software, DevSecOps teams, hardware, cybersecurity, IT/infrastructure, networking, mission engineering, etc)

  • Work in an industry consortium with diverse viewpoints

  • Provide subject matter expertise in astrophysics and satellite operations domains

As a member of the Boeing team, you will be responsible for key portions of our development lifecycle, from idea creation and development, all the way through maintenance and support of customer’s delivered system. This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.  An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret/SCI Clearance Post-Start is required.

Special Program Access or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • Experience with full software development life-cycle

  • Experience working in Lean/Agile software development and rapid iterative design and delivery of products

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • (Level 3) 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Active U.S. Top Secret /SCI Security Clearance

  • Satellite operations experience

  • Familiarity with Space Domain Awareness

  • Familiarity with AFSIM, MATLAB and STK

  • Experience with modeling and simulation efforts

  • Basic modeling skills with Sysml, Enterprise Architect, or UML

  • Understanding of requirements to system decomposition

  • Experience with internal design gate reviews across multiple functional areas

  • Basic understanding of software development pipelines

  • Experience with an interface standard, preferably OMS/UCI experience or Open Architecture standards

  • Experience in project proposals, planning, execution, and completion

  • Knowledge of the space mission domain including launch vehicles, space systems, mission and space vehicle command & control (C2), specialized mission payloads, system integration, and interoperability

Typical Education/Experience: 

Associate (Level 2)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Experienced (Level 3)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary pay range for associate level: $81,600 - $110,400

Summary pay range for mid-level: $97,750 - $132,250
