We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to join the machine learning team. This is a front-line engineering manager role for the team that is responsible for developing and integrating statistical tools and machine learning capabilities into the Elastic platform - available for our Search, Observability and Security Solutions. To apply, you do not need to be a machine learning expert, as your experience as a great engineering manager with a track record of delivery in enterprise software platforms is key to success in this role.

What You Will Be Doing

• Manage, mentor and lead a globally distributed team of experienced engineers
• Lead the efficient delivery for time-boxed software releases, ensuring high quality and innovative feature development
• Build roadmaps and lead prioritisation; balance the right amount of structure and planning for a fast-paced engineering team
• Work with our Product Management team to ensure requirements and the “why” are clear
• Foster a culture of mutual respect and collaborative decision-making
• Promote knowledge sharing with team, organisation and community
• Support development and training through regular coaching and performance evaluations
• Identify staffing requirements and help drive recruitment of high quality colleagues

What You Bring Along

• Experience leading distributed teams (~10 people)
• Real passion for data, analysis and achieving excellence
• Strong written and spoken English communication skills
• Collaborative style, open communicator, distributed experience
• Self-motivated, good attention to detail and highly organised
• Your heart in the right place, a good sense of humour and a genuine interest in the people you work with

Experience in some of the following areas would be ideal

• • Software engineering experience Java, C++
  • Distributed systems design and development
  • SaaS experience
  • Experience with the Elastic Stack
  • Industry experience in machine learning
  • Speaking/presenting at tech conferences
