Job Description:

GDIT’s DOJ/OJP team is looking for a dynamic and experienced Data Scientist to guide and build our client's Data management Center of Excellence. Our client is engaging in a significant overhaul of its legacy IT environment and approach. You, as the Data Scientist, will play a pivotal role in the planning and execution of this modernization effort. While working closely with senior Federal staff, you will design and implement the foundation on which OJP will build its future systems.

Required Qualifications:

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Extensive experience in data mining, AWS Cloud Data Services – Glue, S3, EventBridge, Athena, Presto SQL, Lambda and data analysis
• Understanding of various data structures and common methods in data transformation.
• Proficiency in data processing and statistical programming using PySpark, SQL.
• Expert level Experience in use of Ansible, Azure DevOps (ADO), CloudFormation, dbt and YAML
• Experience in use of other data visualization tools such as SAS Visual Analytics and Socrata
• A demonstrated history of hands-on experience in quantitative analysis
• A demonstrated history of working in large enterprise level applications.
• Ability to work with various stakeholders with different technical abilities to gather data requirements.
• Experience working in AWS cloud services.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.
• A track record of delivery in challenging, face-paced environments
• BS or equivalent + 10 yrs related experience, or MS + 8 yrs related experience.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with ETL tools (AWS Glue, S3, EMR, Spark, SQL , Presto SQL)
• Programming experience in Python and hands on knowledge with API developer tool, VS Code is a plus.
• Familiarity with big data concepts and approaches. examples include, the Hadoop ecosystem and related technical stack (i.e. HDFS, Hive, Spark)
• Familiarity with RedShift, Snow Flake data warehousing technologies.

• Must be able to obtain and maintain an Agency specific Public Trust clearance

The likely salary range for this position is $131,750 - $178,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
