The Impact You’ll Make

As a Software Engineer on the Orchestration Platform team, you'll help define the platform by which workflow orchestration is done at Recursion. You will work on a variety of distributed compute and infrastructure problems, supporting use cases which range from business process automation, data pipelines, machine learning, distributed computation, and more. You will work with a variety of computational chemists, computational biologists, software engineers, ML researchers, and data scientists, and you will have a direct impact on many of our most important difficult scientific and drug discovery problems.

The Team You’ll Join 

You'll be part of a small team in our Digital Platforms org. You will be responsible for developing our self-serve orchestration platforms and working in partnership with many different teams to ensure they are successful in delivering results using those platforms. This role will provide the opportunity to work cross-functionally with many different types of people and to apply your technical expertise to a variety of different problem domains as we work to innovate on drug discovery programs at an industrial scale.

The Experience You’ll Need

  • Experience programming professionally, in projects with significant ambiguity and technical complexity, ideally spanning multiple production systems and involving diverse technologies.
  • Experience being resourceful and collaborative in order to complete large projects.
  • A people-first mindset. We work closely with people from a wide variety of professional and academic disciplines and always prioritize supporting our coworkers in their growth and experience.
  • We work with the following products (You don't need to know all (or any!) of these, as long as you're excited to learn about them):
    • Prefect
    • Camunda
    • Airflow 
    • Kubernetes
    • Python
    • Google Cloud Platform
  • Solid data engineering fundamentals, e.g. data structures, database query patterns, workflow orchestration, etc.
  • A background in biology is not necessary, but intellectual curiosity is a must!

How You’ll be Supported

  • Peer mentor will provide support and training during first 90 days to ensure quick ramp up
  • Dedicated sessions to walkthrough services/systems that you will support
  • 1 on 1 introductions with cross functional peers that you will partner closely with
  • Option to attend conferences to learn more from colleagues, networks, and more to better your skillset 
  • Option to participate in coaching like BetterUp for leadership skills and development programs

At Recursion, we believe that every employee should be compensated fairly. Based on the skill and level of experience required for this role, the estimated current annual base range for this role is:

  • Developing: $121,000 USD
    Skilled: $128,000 USD
    Expert: $137,000 USD

You will also be eligible for bonuses and equity compensation + our comprehensive benefits package for United States based candidates. The range displayed on each job posting reflects target ranges for US new hire salaries and is determined by job, level, and market factors.
