Motional autonomous driving has one of the most established fleets of autonomous vehicles in the world currently providing rides in Las Vegas in partnership with Lyft.  In joining, you'll have the ability to impact this initiative directly and as we expand to other cities.

The Autonomy Performance and Stability team is responsible for learning from the field and optimizing AV performance. As the AV stability manager you are responsible for providing real time support to the fleet you oversee. You will provide live debugging help and gather all required information for remote engineers. You will be responsible for the health of your fleet and maintain necessary documentation and metrics  

What you’ll be doing:

  • You will provide live technical support to the team testing and operations teams to ensure smooth mission completion
  • You will monitor and report on the health of the platform and individual vehicles  
  • You will support the testing, release, and integration of non av-stack changes and provide feedback on them 
  • Be the first engineering point of contact for non av-stack issues and SOPs
  • Small amount of travel can be expected
  • Spend dedicated time in the car to understand the top priority issues and root causes

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in Robotics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience with python and bash
  • Prior experience deploying robots/self-driving vehicles in production
  • Be able to handle rapidly changing priorities across different teams
  • Strong debugging and root cause analysis skill
  • Familiarity with data analysis
  • Strong communication skills

Bonus points (not required):

  • Familiar with modern C++ (11/14/17) software development in a Linux environment. 
  • Familiarity with one of the following systems (prediction/perception/localization)
