Position: Data Architect (Remote)

For this role specifically, we are seeking individuals to help support the mission of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) to innovate and modernize public health science through Information Technology (IT). In support of the overall mission, the OCIO is in the process of modernizing and transforming the use of IT to help CDC move into the digital age.

Capital Technology Group is seeking a smart, talented, self-motivated, and experienced Data Architect to join our team. The ideal candidate is responsible for designing data infrastructure to extract and organize data for authorized individuals to access. Their duties include identifying a company’s internal and external data sources, collaborating with department heads to determine their data storage and organizational needs and using the information to create and maintain data infrastructure for company employees.


Job Responsibilities

  • Collecting and analyzing requirements, designing cloud data architectures for storage and analytics solutions using such cloud technologies as Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Lake, Azure Databricks.
  • Working in a client-facing role, gathering requirements, envisioning solutions and framing architectural decisions.
  • Developing enterprise data architecture strategy using well established frameworks.
  • Constantly refining and improving the data management processes and adapting to agile and secure software development practices.
  • Designing and implementing reference architectures related to data strategy.
  • Identifying areas for improvement and optimization in current systems.
  • Coordinating with other team members to reach project milestones and deadlines.
  • Publishing and/or presenting design reports.

Requirements

  • 6 to 9 years of overall industry experience with 5+ years in leading enterprise data architecture projects.
  • 3+ years of experience in application development including Python, SQL, Scala, or Java.
  • Strong hands-on experience in designing cloud data solutions in an Azure
    environment leveraging Databricks.
  • Strong understanding of such data management frameworks as DataOps, Data Fabric, DevSecOps, MLOps and a multi-cloud data platform implementation. Experience with enterprise data governance, data security, data quality, data
    lineage tools.
  • Understanding of CI/CD, Azure DevOps, Agile practices.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with enterprise data governance processes: defining, developing, and implementing data governance standards, policies, and best practices.
  • Experience with Alation, Collibra, or other data governance tools.
  • Experience with enterprise metadata collection: reviewing metadata across the data catalog to ensure it is optimized for searching, and tracking impact of metadata changes.
  • Experience with enterprise data quality processes: assisting stakeholders with the development and implementation of data quality rules.
