Clickatell is looking for a talented Data Architect to join the Data and Business Intelligence team in our Toronto office. You will be responsible for Data Architecture, supporting business objectives. The successful candidate will have a vital role in defining and implementing the enterprise-wide data architecture and delivery capabilities, which will enable a robust business intelligence and business decision support system that supports users, processes, and business units across the organization in the context of the organizational strategy.

The right person will have a practical knowledge of data platforms, both on premise and on cloud, very good knowledge of next generation technologies and architectures. The Data Architect will mentor other team members and establish best practices. As a Data Architect, you will be part of a very competent team that works on mission critical applications and data. Responsibilities of the role

  • Design and develop highly scalable data ingestion and processing frameworks to transform a variety of datasets, capture metadata, lineage and implement data quality using AWS cloud services
  • Work closely with Data Modelers and Data Engineers to define and evolve our data model, support data analytics activities, and ensure platforms scalability.
  • Ensure data models and architectural patterns fit Product requirements and overall product value prepositions
  • Work closely with the data delivery teams to drive execution and continues improvement of Data Products
  • Design, implement and document technical Big Data solutions using AWS Big Data services and solutions
  • Coach less experienced Data Engineers, Data Analysts and BI Specialist on Data best practises.
  • Perform problem resolution and root cause analysis along with recommending and implementing preventative techniques.
  • Review existing ETL architecture and frameworks to improve performance, manage costs and drive efficiencies.
  • Manage priorities, estimation, and Data Architecture artifacts in support of Data Product development
  • Protect Clickatell’s information, intellectual property and corporate data systems in accordance with prescribed guidelines
  • Familiarise yourself with all risk and compliance related policies and procedures as communicated by relevant functions


Requirements

  • B-Tech or bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, informatics or math.
  • Experience and knowledge of AWS Big Data services. Athena, Redshift, Kinesis, Kafka, Glue, S3, Lake Formation
  • Experience with one or more database technologies. MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle
  • Experience and knowledge of BI tools and technologies. Talend, Power BI, SiSence
  • Experience or knowledge of Big Data technologies. Hadoop, Spark, Hive, MongoDB, Presto, Flume
  • Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies and embracing of their values and principles
  • Hands on experience leading large-scale global data warehousing and analytics projects.
  • Experience with complicated account hierarchy, security groups, VPCs, AWS managed services, S3, ELB, EC2 Auto Scaling, Lambda
  • Have significant experience developing Enterprise Grade applications at scale
  • A background working in a high-volume payment transaction environment, or mobile technology platforms and systems integration would be advantageous and be able to demonstrate a sustained track record of delivering high-quality outputs, on-time and to product or business specifications.
  • Understanding of database and analytical technologies in the industry including MPP and NoSQL databases, Data Warehouse design, BI reporting and Dashboard development.
  • Assertiveness: ability to communicate effectively and explain a point of view convincingly.
  • Clear thinker: simplify data strategy into clear actions to team, set priorities for self and makes clear decisions.
  • Communication: excellent verbal and written communication skills. The candidate must have great inter- and intra-personal skills.
  • Customer Focus: identify and effectively respond to the diverse needs of development department’s customers.
  • Teamwork: ability to work reliably and responsibly with internal and external colleagues to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
  • Computer literate: Proficient in development environment (Linux) as well as competence in MS Office Suite.
  • High transactional development environments and Business intelligence experience will be advantageous.
  • Exposure to Business Intelligence, data warehousing, dimensional modelling will be advantageous.
  • Relevant knowledge in different development, database and business intelligence tools, techniques and environments to develop and deliver quality applications and documentation.
  • Complete familiarity with Agile and traditional methods, particularly Waterfall, Scrum and Kanban
  • Have problem solving skills, logical thinking and analytical abilities.
  • Display foresight be systematic and provide orderly planning and have attention to detail.
  • Have solid negotiating skills both internally and externally.
  • Have the ability to act both tactically and strategically.
  • TOGAF certification is advantageous
  • Data Architecture Certification will be advantageous.
