Data Science is at the core of Nielsen’s business. We support all International Media clients and are located where our clients are.
In this role, you will be responsible for:Responsible for analyzing, designing, developing, implementing, testing, and supporting highly complex software applications: work alongside scientists and engineers as the subject matter expert for building machine learning pipelines in our cloud environment. Create software components that can be shared and reused across Nielsen teams and processes. Collaborate with product and research teams to design and validate data and learning algorithms. Identify and implement features that improve algorithm efficiency and scalability. Develop, implement and maintain good programming standards and practices across our analytics codebase. Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements, including automating manual processes, optimizing for usability, and re-designing for greater scalability. Opportunity to telecommute from the Chicago area 1-3 days per week.  FOR THIS ROLE, WE ARE LOOKING FOR INDIVIDUALS THAT HAVE: Minimum Requirements:  Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, statistics, mathematics, operations research or a related field with a data science focus (foreign equivalent degree acceptable) plus 1 years of experience in data engineering or data science (would also accept a bachelor's degree plus 3 years of post-baccalaureate, progressively responsible experience). This must include 1 year of experience in: SQL; Spark; data pipeline and workflow management tools (such as Airflow or Luigi); object-oriented/object-functional languages (such as Python, Scala, Java or C++); using source control (such as Git or Bitbucket); distributed databases; and Hadoop ecosystem. Any level of experience with: cloud services Azure, AWS or Google; building, debugging, and optimizing machine learning pipelines; performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and analytics systems; and statistical languages (SAS, R or Julia).  About Nielsen:Nielsen is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
