Summary

GoHenry is a London and New York-based fintech company that pioneered the youth fintech and financial education category. We are on a mission to make every kid smart with money and to delight our community of 2 million parents, kids, and teens with innovative, market-leading tools to help parents raise financially healthy kids.

GoHenry offers a debit card and app for kids and teens and companion apps for the family, with in-app tools for sending money, automating allowance, managing chores, setting savings goals, giving to charity, and in-app financial education lessons where kids can watch videos, take quizzes and earn points & badges. This is all designed to help kids and teens build good money habits that will last a lifetime.

We are looking for an experienced and self-driven Head of Data to join our Technology team.

The role

Reporting to the VP Engineering (VPE), the Head of Data (HoD) is responsible for everything related to data within GoHenry: data infrastructure, data quality, ETL, data engineering, data dictionaries, data lake and data warehouse, analytics and reporting.

As such, the HoD will create strong and proactive collaborations with the Technical Team and other departments such as the Finance, Marketing, Product and Operations Teams.

They will manage and technically lead the Data Team, ensuring that opportunities are created and given to allow team members who report to them to develop their talents and benefit from personal growth opportunities.

This role will drive our move to be a more data-driven business. We’ve already seen the benefits of using data in our acquisition function, and are seeing more improvements in our Operations. We have also started the process with the Product and Finance teams. This role will also ensure that consumed data is appropriate, correct and validated.

Responsibilities

  • Serving our members and the company
    First and foremost, the HoD will always aim to do what is best for our members, directly and through collaboration with the rest of the business.
  • Team
    The HoD is responsible for their team’s productivity, efficiency and growth. They need to ensure the team is able to serve the various business needs, following the business OKRs and structure according to the tech team budget. They should voice them if they feel they require additional resources, while also driving the explanation of the efficiency changes they see fit. Continuous feedback and retrospective and a can-do attitude are keys.
  • Data process and data-driven business
    This role is key to defining the right data processes to guarantee the quality of the delivery (short and long term), reduce the lead time, and avoid work duplication.
    The HoD should advise on the best format for the inputs required for their team to be able to perform comfortably and serenely their work as well as instruct on the attention points to be considered in relation to the requests raised.
  • Operations Support
    The HoD and the data team support the Operations team, regarding projections, running costs analysis, operational data analysis to notice and evaluate improvements/benefits, and data-oriented processes to increase efficiencies.
  • Marketing Support
    The HoD and the data team help support the Marketing team, regarding projections, A/B test and audience analysis, CRM infrastructure and reporting automation.
  • Product Support
    The HoD and the data team support the Product team by providing insights that will shape their roadmap.
  • Data infrastructure and solutions
    Supervising the building of our data infrastructure, data lake and data warehouse. They ensure the data is properly filled and served, as well as documented.
  • Data Reporting and Insights
    Ensuring the right reporting is provided to the various areas of the business, allowing them to monitor the progress of their KPIs. From it, the data team will provide useful insights to allow them to be more knowledgeable in the planning of their work.

  • Data audit, Data documentation and dictionary
  • Data warehouse – Documented, Clean data serving reporting, analysis and self-served consumption.
  • Data reporting – Ability to explore data and monitor business KPIs.
  • Marketing automation - Automating marketing reporting.
  • Product OKRs - Providing insights, guidance and helping set objectives.

What we are looking for

  • Previous Experience in a ‘Head of’ or ‘Lead’ data-related role.
  • Strong Python & SQL skills
  • Excellent Data Analysis skills
  • Experience with Data Engineering
  • Experience with Data Visualization tools. We use ‘Looker’ but are open to candidates who have used other tools.
  • Experience Managing a team
