THE OPPORTUNITY

The new Research Engineer to join our growing Machine Learning team.

You will be expected to research novel solutions to improve and develop Speech Graphics technology as well as implement and maintain those solutions for production. You will be an integral part of the core technology group, collaborating with other machine learning engineers and researchers; data engineers and linguists; software engineers; technical artists; producers and more. Speech Graphics' software converts audio into synchronised facial animation for a wide range of applications from video games to cloud AI systems. Your work will directly enhance the quality and features of our technology, and impact products currently used by millions of people.

The position is an entry level position and reports to the Director of Machine Learning.

The key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Research novel solutions to improve and develop Speech Graphics technology.
  • Design, train and thoroughly evaluate neural networks models.
  • Implement, deploy and maintain solutions in production.
  • Present projects and scientific findings to the broader speech science team and CTO in weekly meetings.

Requirements

Essential Qualifications/Requirements:

  • M.Sc. in Speech and Language Processing, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science or another relevant field
  • Experience with machine learning and deep neural networks
  • Experience with speech technology such as ASR
  • Experience with high-level programming languages such as python
  • Eagerness to learn new skills and technologies
  • Research mindset

Desired Skills:

Please note these are desirable skills and are not required to apply for the role

  • Experience with a deep learning toolbox, especially PyTorch
  • Excellent programming skills
  • Experience with software development and low-level programming languages like C/C++
  • Industry experience in a relevant field
  • Ability to work well in a team and independently

We are currently working remotely and interviews will take place via Zoom/Video call. We are in the process of securing a new Edinburgh-based office which will be available for use once completed.
