Research Engineer, Internet of Things (IoT) & Augmented/Virtual Reality (AR/VR)

Within this framework, we are looking for an agile and highly-motivated “IoT/AR/VR Research Engineer” to join a team of future shapers.

Job role

The successful candidate will be involved in the design, development and deployment of eXtended Reality (XR) solutions focusing on IoT, AR and VR technologies for next-generation tele-cooperation systems. As a research engineer, the candidate will work on a small team, while being versatile and independent, will tackle interesting research problems and will gain expertise in beyond the state-of-the-art IoT/AR/VR and networking technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement experimental systems and applications focusing on IoT and AR/VR technologies for next-generation tele-cooperation systems.
• Investigate new IoT and AR/VR technologies and existing systems and make recommendations.
• Configure, deploy, maintain, and use software engineering tools.
• Lead or contribute to technical reports and deliver technical presentations.
• Collaborate with technical teams or individuals of various backgrounds across Europe.

Requirements

• MSc (PhD preferred) in Electronic/Computer Engineering or Computer Science or related technical field.
• Understanding of web architecture and RESTful APIs.
• Firm understanding of IoT architectures and principles (IoT Protocols, M2M data sharing etc.).
• Familiarity with Augmented/Virtual/Extended Reality (AR/VR/XR) SDKs and Frameworks (e.g., ARToolKit, ARCore, Unity3D).
• Programming experience in Java, C# or C++.
• Excellent use of English language.
• Excellent communication, teamwork & problem solving skills.
• Fulfilled military obligations, where applicable
  
  Desired skills
• Experience in collaborative research projects, technical proposal/deliverable writing.
• Familiarity with visualization and analytics tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Kibana etc.).
• Experience with micro-service architectures.
• Experience with 3D software development (Unity/Unreal).
• Knowledge of the software development lifecycle and associated tools (version control, issue tracking, etc.).Record of technical reports and presentations in English.
