At Nextdoor, our Growth Marketing team is charged with driving member growth and revenues from businesses advertising on the platform. This team has a Marketing Science function which utilizes the analytical horsepower of data science focused purely on new customer growth on the platform. We are looking for a data scientist to grow the team and increase our ability to support the optimization of growth marketing decisions. 

Think of the role as a full-stack marketing data science, using data to inform and guide marketing decisions.  You will be responsible for the design and execution of best practices with regards to experimentation for email campaigns including selection, measurement and reporting of results to influence next steps. Engage in discovery work to identify opportunities to change the what/when/how of our current programs.

The role requires a strong mix of technical and statistical skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with stakeholders including but not limited to finance, data science, marketing. Familiarity with campaign management and marketing will be helpful.

Defining success metrics that capture performance and identify actionable insights

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing actionable segmentation
  • Best-practise experimentation to give us reliable insight
  • Establish a shared vision with cross functional teams to develop/optimize/deploy new strategies including MarTech, marketing managers and wider data science teams
  • Campaign management
  • Identify where we can invest in 3rd party data to enrich our decision making capabilities
  • Build out required performance measurement tools and dashboards
  • Educate stakeholders by explaining the “Why” behind the “What”

 What You’ll Bring To The Team

  • 2+ years of expertise in quantitative analysis, ability to tell a story backed by data using data mining methods
  • 2+ years of experience using in-depth applied statistics and analytical experience in partnership with Marketing teams to optimize decision making
  • Demonstrating proactivity in identifying better ways of working and can recommend actionable solutions
  • Ability to pull together your own datasets with strong SQL skills and knowledge of analytical programming languages including R or Python to conduct statistical analysis
  • Familiarity with experiment design and A/B test analysis including measurement selection
  • Can communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders
  • Curiosity for discovery and creativity in solving complex challenges 

Bonus Points

  • Experience building predictive models using machine learning algorithms
  • Familiarity with marketing in the B2B space
  • Experience with complex attribution solutions
  • Worked with data vendors to enrich data
  • Knowledge of online advertising and ad tech space; robust understanding of online advertising best practices
