Mintel’s Data Science and Analytics (DS&A) division is focused on investing in people, data and technology that keeps Mintel at the forefront of innovation. Developing and nurturing the technology to create deeper insights and more data-backed predictions/recommendations at scale for our clients.

The Data Analytics Lead role is a senior-level role requiring both hands-on technical development in addition to project management responsibility. Data Analytics Leads are business partners to our product and commercial teams at Mintel, often sharing responsibility and accountability for the success of strategic projects involving DS&A.  As the Data Analytics Lead for EMEA Consulting and Custom Data Solutions you will be working in a highly client facing environment alongside our global consultants who provide consumer insight, brand building, strategic guidance, and innovation services to Fortune 500 clients.

This DS&A role will require a focus on communication and a passion for solving problems.

The ideal candidate for this role will have several years of experience within data analytics and stakeholder management and should have experience working in a client facing setting.

  • Experience working in CPG, FMCG or market research is preferred.
  • Excellent level SQL skills - ability to find insight in complex and/or imperfect data.
  • Highly proficient in at least one BI tool; experience with Looker development a plus.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (written and oral): ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical team members

Individuals in this role are expected to be available for client facing and global meetings. This role is expected to have a presence in our London office on a regular (2 times weekly basis). This role will report to a manager in the United States.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • You will own the successful planning and delivery of project-level work, including commercial pursuits. You will have close collaboration with Mintel’s consulting teams with focus on the EMEA region and then globally to help teams achieve their revenue goals through data science and analytics capabilities.
  • You will collaborate with others, often from other teams outside of DS&A, to accurately scope and plan large projects spanning several epics. You will proactively engage stakeholders, seek feedback and not only adapt plans, but manage through change, managing several DS&A projects concurrently.
  • You will develop a positive relationship with stakeholders and clients, ensuring successful scoping and delivery of projects.  You will assist in pipeline generating activity and in Mintel’s product development processes.
  • While this role is not a people manager at this time, you will coach and mentor data analysts and data scientists within Mintel and foster a culture of collaboration. There is opportunity for future career growth and the potential to recruit and manage a small team of data analysts and data scientists in the future.
  • Assisting in driving the advanced analytics capabilities at an organization focused on gleaning insights from data. You will develop value-added data visualizations, dashboards, and apply data science models researched and supported by data scientists in DS&A to directly solve client problems.
  • Collaborate with members of the Data Science and Analytics team globally to ensure a consistent approach to technical developments and that continued research and development work is aligned with the needs of our clients.  This includes partnering with data scientists to develop new capabilities based on the needs of the consulting teams and our clients while working with your manager to enhance DS&A client offerings and custom data solutions.
  • Continually learning - as a part of a fluid, innovation focused team, you will stay current on emerging data science technologies and other quantitative techniques.

What We Are Looking For:

  • A Great Communicator: You are an effective communicator who can discuss difficult technologies while also focusing on the audience to tailor discussions. You are comfortable in a client facing role.
  • Commercially-Minded: You are dedicated to quality, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in your work to elevate our products.
  • Naturally Curious: You are naturally curious, looking for new opportunities or technologies that could elevate yours or others work.
  • Data-Driven: You understand the concepts of a data analytics lifecycle from requirements gathering through technical analysis to delivery and are able to rapidly organize information, draw conclusions, identify patterns, and succinctly communicate key points and translate your knowledge visually.
  • Self-Directed: You take initiative to solve problems and uncover opportunities, and you are eager to take ownership and accountability for client deliverables.
  • Committed to Personal Growth: You are committed to continuous learning and growth, constantly pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone to develop your skill set.
  • Tech-Savvy: You have excellent SQL skills and the ability to find insight in complex and/or imperfect data.  You also have exposure to modern BI platforms (Looker, Tableau, PowerBI, etc.) and an understanding and appropriate application of data visualizations along with experience in data modeling.
  • Humble: You are humble, yet confident. You willingly admit when you need help, and you know how and when to utilize the resources and people around you. You are also willing to share your own knowledge for the benefit of the team.
  • A Collaborator: You bring an energy to the table that encourages and develops internal relationships. You seek out opportunities to collaborate with peers in your department and across the organization.
