Data Science is at the core of Nielsen’s business. Our team of researchers come from diverse disciplines and they drive innovation, new product ideation, experimental design and testing, complex analysis and delivery of data insights around the world. We support all International Media clients and are located where our clients are.
In this role, you will be responsible for:Support analyses for Data Science teams, including custom requests, client inquiries, impact of changing methodologies, and standards and best practices. Write custom Python and SQL code. Apply knowledge of National TV Nielsen, with a focus on weighting, computations, and enhanced methodologies. Apply expertise in the flow of Big Data through Nielsen systems in order to create reliable data views that will feed into client inquiry processes.  Work with cross-functional teams to implement and validate enhanced audience measurement methodologies. Examine analysis specifications for completeness, determine how to execute the analysis with available data, modify specifications as needed, provide an estimated delivery date, and accurately deliver analyses on time with a summary of the key insights. Collaboratively create and manage projects from beginning to end, including developing the analytical plan, running analyses, and summarizing results, while effectively managing expectations with key stakeholders. Respond to client inquiries. Oversee and mentor (without supervisory authority) junior Data Scientists and Analysts. Involves the opportunity to telecommute from within the Oldsmar, FL area, up to 3 days per week, as feasible. Involves domestic travel, 1 to 2x/year, for up to 3 days/trip. Tools used include: Databricks, Python, SQL, Pyspark, Airflow, Intelligence Studio, Gitlab, Hadoop, Hive and AWS (Amazon Web Services).  FOR THIS ROLE, WE ARE LOOKING FOR INDIVIDUALS THAT HAVE: Minimum Requirements:  Master’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science or a related field with a strong quantitative focus plus 2 years of experience in data science. This must include 1 year of experience in/with: Python programming, including scikit-learn, scipy, statsmodels, numpy, and pandas; large-scale data processing via SQL, including advanced window functions; data manipulation, integration, aggregation techniques, and automation; quantitative research and statistical analysis including sampling, statistical inference, hypothesis testing, and variance estimation; supervised machine learning techniques, including regression, feature selection, and/or regularization (ridge and/or lasso); and analytics, including trend analysis, pattern recognition, and/or quality assurance.
