Verusen is a leading technology company that uses artificial intelligence to provide visibility, digitization and prediction of materials data and inventory for complex supply chains. The company’s AI software harmonizes disparate material data across ERP instances/systems while providing accurate MDM across the enterprise to optimize inventory costs. Intelligent controls enforce inventory procedures to help prevent future inventory spikes, while predictive capabilities optimize allocation and procurement needs. The result is a data foundation you can trust to move quickly to innovate and support related Industry 4.0 initiatives.

Verusen is venture-backed by leading investors from San Francisco to Boston, and is a Signature Company at Georgia Tech’s Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC). Partnerships including SAP and Accenture. Verusen is a portfolio company of SAP.iO.

Verusen is seeking a Data Scientist Intern to apply mathematical optimization methods to supply chain problems. As Data Scientist Intern at Verusen, you will be supported by several highly skilled data scientists.

We’re looking for a Data Scientist Intern with a passion for both math and technology to join our growing Data Science team. This team writes the math and software that sits at the heart of our company and that runs over regularly over big data sets to produce its models. Our team’s use cases include but are not limited to statistical data analysis, developing optimization algorithms for supply chain inventory optimization,  graph algorithms, natural language processing, building machine learning pipelines, support of analytical AWS cloud services and more. These various use cases give you the opportunity and challenges to experience multiple ML algorithms and tools. You might not be an expert in every stage of a Machine Learning project, but you should have interests and curiosity in various parts ranging from the data to the model’s business impact. If you join our team, you will have the opportunity to stay on the cutting edge of research and then to put this research to practical use by building your own software and infrastructure systems.

We will have available to you: a weekly study group, design review forums, code reviews, as well as brainstorming sessions with peers and business stakeholders.

Perks

Flexible remote work, challenging projects and a cohesive team environment where you will be supported by highly-skilled Data Scientists

Responsibilities

  • Help deliver supply chain optimization projects, with the direction of more senior data scientists, including understanding the business need, aggregating data, exploring data, building & validating predictive models, and deploying completed models with monitoring.
  • Use ML platforms and tools to help us build ML models.
  • Research and implement novel ML approaches.
  • Work with business and engineering teams to analyze, extract, normalize, and label relevant data.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline. Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Statistics: theoretical foundation in Bayesian, frequentist approaches. An understanding of various common distributions, sampling techniques, and etc.
  • Familiarity with modern Machine Learning software, libraries: Scikit-learn, Pandas, Numpy, Tensorflow (or PyTorch).
  • Python programing (at least 1 year experience)
  • SQL, data engineering
  • Generating information and insights from data sets and identifying trends and patterns

Nice to Haves

  • Experience creating production code including object-oriented programming principles.
  • Unit & integration testing
  • Experience with algorithmic design, complexity analysis, mathematic / scientific computing.
  • Experience with dashboarding tools (Power BI, Tableau, Dash, etc)
