POSITION OVERVIEW

DEFTEC Corporation seeks a Data Scientist Analyst to support the Space Training and Readiness Command Human Capital Directorate (S1). The S1 reaches across the STARCOM Enterprise to provide Personnel support (Military and Civilian), manpower support, systems and program integration, and civilian pay oversight. STARCOM/S1 develops United States Space Force (USSF) and United States Air Force human capital policies to prepare STARCOM forces to prevail in a Contested, Degraded, and Operationally Limited (CDO) environment. This position will model complex business problems and discover business insights using statistical, algorithmic, mining, and visualization techniques. You will contribute to building and developing the organization's personnel and manpower data infrastructure and support senior leadership with insights, management reports, and analysis for decision-making.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Utilizes scientific analysis to assist the S1 and senior leadership with decision-making; identifies and advocates for enhanced business practices.
  • Assesses the enterprise architecture data to translate business needs into analytics/reporting requirements to support executive decisions and workflows.
  • Proactively mines data warehouses to identify trends and patterns and generates insights for business units and senior leadership.
  • Employs advanced analytic methods to extract value from business data.
  • Performs large-scale experimentation to identify hidden relationships between variables in large datasets.
  • Researches and implements cutting-edge techniques and tools in machine learning/deep learning/artificial intelligence.
  • Determines requirements that will be used to train and evolve deep learning models and algorithms.
  • Visualizes information and develops engaging reports on the results of data analysis using data visualization tools.
  • Advises product teams on new products, features, or updates through database recommendations.
  • Develops frameworks and processes to analyze unstructured information collected through social media platforms.
  • Supports user experience specialists and information architects to enhance information visualization.
  • Distributes best practices to analytics and product teams and provides consultations for their database experimentations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the Data Scientist field
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, Big Data, Hadoop, Java, Spark, TensorFlow
  • Working knowledge of Machine Learning Algorithms
  • Statistical modeling through software (e.g., SPSS) or programming language (e.g., Python or R)
  • Proficiency with other programming languages such as R and SQL
  • Hands-on experience deploying analytical models to solve business problems.
  • Ability to develop experimental and analytical plans for data modeling processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience in Agile development
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to collaborate in a team environment
  • Active Top-Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor's Degree
