About the UQ Poche Centre

We are an Indigenous-led health research centre focusing on Indigenous ways of knowing, being and doing. We undertake multidisciplinary research to enhance understanding of diverse health issues affecting Indigenous peoples, reduce health inequity and improve health outcomes. 

In addition, we aim to nurture the next generation of Indigenous research leaders. About This Opportunity

The ATLAS Indigenous Primary Care Surveillance Network team are seeking a Data Analyst to contribute to the ongoing development, operation and reporting processes of the ATLAS data infrastructure. As the Data Analyst, you will develop and deploy an online data dashboard, delivering data visualisation to stakeholders and knowledge users.

In this role you will also independently develop and lead academic analyses of the ATLAS data, as well as contribute to the technical development of the ATLAS surveillance infrastructures expansion.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading the development and management of the interactive data dashboard for Health Services and stakeholders.

  • Developing reports and dashboards based on available data from core systems and identifying opportunities for automation.

  • Contributing to development of analytic outputs from the ATLAS data infrastructure.

  • Contributing to the maintenance and improvement of the ATLAS data pipeline.

  • Documenting code and contributing to data dictionaries, codebooks and other administrative documentation.

  • Occasional travel interstate and intrastate may be required.

This is a full-time (100%), fixed-term position through to June 2025. Part-time arrangements (minimum 80%) would be considered upon negotiation with the preferred candidate.

At HEW level 7, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $96,649 - $105,244, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $113,080 - $123,136 annually.  As these roles are covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases in line with the Enterprise Agreement.

About You

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

If you feel that you meet some, but not all of the below criteria, we encourage you to reach out for a confidential discussion about your skills and experience:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Health Information Management, or a relevant scientific discipline, with at least four (4) years subsequent relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/ training.

  • Demonstrated experience in data manipulation, analysis and visualisation using Python, SQL, and R. Confidence in Tidyverse, Shiny (dashboarding) and regex-based text searching is ideal.

  • Demonstrated high level organisational ability and initiative including evidence of being effective in work planning, research and prioritising to meet deadlines, often with competing demands in a complex team environment.

  • Demonstrated high level communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.

In addition, the following mandatory requirements apply:
