You will develop our enterprise people data strategy and data governance practices. We are looking for a strategic thought leader that can operate at the intersection of business, people, and data technology. Someone that is comfortable translating between business strategies, people strategies, and operations with awareness of the latest trends in data technology. You will be the business owner for our Workforce Core which includes standard business process transactions, master data management, role-based security and access management, and self-service enablement. You will apply both practical and novel ways of thinking to solve strategic and operational issues facing our leaders, teams, and people as we scale Atlassian into the future.

What you'll do
- Design and implement a global people data strategy that enables Atlassian to unleash the potential of our teams and ensure we have enough of the right people that can achieve our long-term goals.
- Ensure that our data capabilities are scalable, efficient, and applied including compliance to enterprise data standards, governance, security, and frameworks.
- Influence the architecture, engineering, integration, and operations of the People data platform including the data roadmap of capabilities, data sources, and governance.
- Directly contribute to the success of our people strategy through co-created data solutions including its metrics design and automation, standardized reporting and regulatory frameworks, and the holistic usage and monitoring of data across our organization.
- Maintain a strategic understanding of Atlassian business operations and be an authority between systems, data, and company priorities to identify areas for improvement, efficiency, and collaboration.
- Collaborate with People, IT, Data Engineering, Team Anywhere and Legal teams across Atlassian globally to create common data definitions and promote safe and ethical data use.
- Establish processes that are efficient and repeatable with the objective of streamlining the translation of raw data to metrics for research and data science teams.
- Refine the collection and automation of talent data across channels and develop processes to integrate into dashboards to communicate performance against company and people team priorities.
- Institute a data governance framework including a data dictionary, controls, and data thresholds. Establish a feedback mechanism to resolve data related issues.
- Establish a Data Governance Committee to ensure essential partners influence and are informed of governance issues and solutions.
- Outline and manage data governance performance and standards, while developing operating plans to achieve those standards through audits, automation and processes.
Your background
- 8+ years of global data leadership experience with a focus on developing people data strategies and governance programs preferably within a high-growth global company
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in SQL, OLAP, relational databases, data warehouses and data marts and web analytics tracking tools (Adobe or Google) with exposure to Workday, Qualtrics and any leading ATS.
- Experience providing team direction across a data ecosystem to develop data quality, compliance and security processes
- Deliver performant data solutions that support the business in identifying insights on-demand about the workforce and promoting data-driven decision-making at scale
- Tendency to approach complex problems with a balance of data and insights, first principles thinking, and an eye for innovation and change
- Expertise in promoting operational results through an integrated data model in a global technology or products/services company
- Experience with leadership and interest in building and supporting a diverse and distributed team
- Implement change across multiple teams and levels
- Hands-on experience building end-to-end data batch and real-time ETL data pipes and data models, advanced SQL queries and optimization, technical documentation of processes and code
- Experience applying large volumes of diverse data to understand the relationships, rules and usage patterns of data that affect our results
