We're looking for a curious, adaptable Marketing Data Analyst to join our Marketing Analytics team at Monzo! You will partner with Marketing channel owners to identify key problem statements, develop and maintain a dashboarding suite that effectively showcases the impact of marketing activity. You will also partner with the MarTech team to ensure the validity of the data schema and finally you will encourage a healthy debate on how to improve the effectiveness of performance marketing activity. You’ll be the voice of data for our marketing department.

Our Marketing Analytics team's mission:
Enable Monzo to Make Better Decisions, Faster. We have a strong culture of data-driven decision making across the whole company. And we're great believers in powerful, real-time analytics and empowerment of the wider business. All our data lives in one place and is super easy to use. 90% of day-to-day data-driven decisions are covered by self-serve analytics through Looker which gives Monzonauts the head space to focus on more impactful business questions and analyses. We work in cross-functional squads where you'll be a member of our central data discipline and fully embedded within our marketing department.
The role
As our Marketing Data Analyst you will:
- Partner with Marketing channel owners (e.g Social Ad Platforms, Paid Search) to identify important problem statements and gather requirements for visibility and reporting
- Develop and maintain dashboards in Looker our visualisation tool that effectively showcase the impact and efficiency of marketing activity across campaigns (e.g targeting new users or product adoption)
- Partner with the MarTech team to ensure the validity, completeness and stability of our marketing data
- Report and deep-dive on the drivers of performance, changes in trend and investigating discrepancies to provide actionable recommendations
- Run experiments that help us measure the impact of campaigns or product changes
- Increase efficiency and scalability through automation to ensure our focus is on solving new problems, or implement tests and controls to ensure reliability of data.
- Challenge the team and partners in meetings to encourage healthy debate on how to improve effectiveness for performance marketing activity
Our technology stack
We rely heavily on the following tools and technologies (note we do not expect applicants to have prior experience of all them):
- Google Cloud Platform for all of our analytics infrastructure
- dbt and BigQuery SQL for our data modelling and warehousing
- Looker for our visualisation tool
- Python for data science
- AWS for most of our backend infrastructure
You should apply if
- you are a highly numerate person who is excited to solve marketing problems by working with BigData, interpreting analyses, and consulting with marketing channel owners to translate insights into actions based on commercial goals
- you have strong SQL skills and are familiar with BigQuery and/or general data warehousing concepts
- You are familiar with building and maintaining visualisation tools
- you are comfortable exploring potentially ambiguous business problems and enjoy problem solving
- you strive for improvement, proactively identifying issues and opportunities and getting them prioritised
Nice to haves:
- You have multiple years of analytics experience, preferably in a fast moving tech company or consultancy
