We're looking for a passionate, product-focused Senior Data Engineer who have hacked systems in creative ways, who are curious about new languages, technologies, and trends. We believe that working hard is a byproduct of loving what you do and not something that can be me assured on a timesheet.

Location Remote: Mexico 

Qualifications we are looking for:

5 years of experience

• MS Azure or similar platform
• Scala
• Spark

Responsibilities:

In this team, each of us is working on his project. Each Data Engineer must have enough knowledge to work with a certain degree of autonomy.

We are implementing Spark pipelines using Scala for it. Then, the candidate must have enough understanding and experience working with Spark. How to create, deploy and execute spark applications to apply complex transformations to the data. At least it is required a middle level. For example, how to: create, join, filter, and transform DataFrames, efficiently.

About Scala, we are focusing on Spark applications. Then the candidate should know enough to implement Spark pipelines. An expert on Scala is not needed, but at least to have good fundamentals. Understand the primary types of objects/structures like Case Classes, Tuples, and Collections; how to interact with Collections to transform them (map, flatMap, foreach, etc.), and How to deal with NULLS that are discouraged in Scala.

The candidate must have real experience implementing solutions using Spark with Scala. Just knowing some concepts is not enough.

It is desired some experience with Azure, but this is not critical. The current use of the Azure Platform is not very complex, and it is something that the developer can learn on the way.
