The Sr. Enterprise Data Integration Developer will work as part of the Enterprise Data Integration team under the direction of the Enterprise Data Integration Manager.  The position relies on experience and judgment to support, enhance and create ETL processes, requiring a broad degree of independence, knowledge and problem solving skills.
The ideal candidate for the Sr. EDID role is a technical resource that has experience building comprehensive data integration solutions representing data from relational and analytical source systems or models, analyzing complex SQL code, and creating and optimizing Control-M batch application workloads.  This role is required to transform data according to Business Rules and MDM and to work with the Enterprise Data Management team to assure attributes are properly governed and also loaded into operational models. 
The role is  also required to analyze sources of data, determine optimal data integration methodologies, map and model to relational and analytical layer data models, identify enhancements, and other needs relative to the Enterprise Data Integration space.  The role additionally has input into the Enterprise Data Integration architecture, procedures and workflow.  The role is expected to have a strong business acumen in order to provide effective and efficient solutions.  Individuals in this role are expected to have a strong ability to multitask on various projects and priorities and keep them all moving forward.  The role influences others in IT through sharing of specialized technical knowledge and mentors junior developers and reporting analysts in proper techniques, procedures and code performance adjustments. This role is expected to support and expand a culture of operational excellence. 
This position requires a highly technical individual that has the ability to communicate clearly with Enterprise Data Services (EDS) Management, Enterprise Business and Data Analysts, Enterprise Data Operations Support, Enterprise Information Delivery Developers and other IT professionals using technically sound terminology and excellent communication skills. 
The ideal candidate will be a strong leader and self starter working in a fairly autonomous environment.  They will need to have a high level of experience coding technically sound solutions following industry best practices specifically around Enterprise Data Integration solutions, while exhibiting the ability to communicate in a non-technical or business manner.  This candidate will have leadership qualities that will be utilized to mentor junior developers and the ability to simultaneously address multiple units of work within a given timeframe to ensure timeline is adhered to, quality requirements are documented and followed, as well as acceptance criteria is met .  The candidate will possess strong institutional knowledge of the insurance and Enterprise Data Integration industries in order to craft the most effective and efficient solutions for the business.  The ability to understand complex business needs, logical problem solving skills, and strong written and verbal communication skills are required.  Additionally, an expert level understanding of database methodology, the MS BI Stack and other industry solutions are required.  

Primary Job Functions

  • Simultaneously address multiple units of work within a given timeframe/sprint to ensure timeline is adhered to, quality requirements are followed and acceptance criteria is met.
  • Use Microsoft BI stack (SQL, SSIS) to develop Data Integration solutions as part of the continued development and maturation of the Enterprise Data assets
  • Work with the Enterprise Data Management team to assure attributes are properly managed and governed via the Enterprise Data Governance process
  • Assure Data Integration solutions follow the department’s software development lifecycle processes and that all required artifacts and documentation have been created to support a seamless migration to the Enterprise Data Operations Support team
  • Demonstrate advanced experience with ETL Methodologies, Incident Management, Change Management, Problem Management and Project Management Disciplines
  • Deploy solutions with written implementation, test and back-out plans according to the change control process
  • Drive and own the necessary development tasks to support functional specifications
  • Provide tier 4 support for Enterprise Data Assets and other legacy data stores/solutions. (Note: Tier 1 support is our NOC, tier 2 support is off shore, tier 3 support is onshore and tier 4 support are our Sr. and Lead Data Integration developers)
  • Demonstrate advanced understanding of Enterprise Data Assets and other legacy data stores/solutions architecture, processes and flow, and operate as a subject matter expert (SME) within the group
  • Apply Protective Enterprise Data Services standards in all development to ensure consistency and quality of work product
  • Work within an agile environment following sprint commitments and release schedules
  • Provide peer reviews for assigned team developers in order to ensure adherence to industry and Protective specific standards as it relates to Integration code, Workflow Management and documentation
  • Work, in conjunction with Team Lead and utilize technical understanding and leadership abilities to mentor junior developers

Additional Duties

  • Actively participate in team meetings to support the group
  • Actively participate in the culture of excellence as part of the Enterprise Data Services team
  • Actively participate in team design reviews and co-operative architecture design sessions
  • Work directly with Sr Enterprise Information Delivery Developers, Enterprise Data Integration Developers and Enterprise Business/Data Analysts on data requirements and quality assurance
  • Work efficiently and Effectively to ensure successful and timely completion of assigned project deliverables
  • Work with team lead and manager to effectively define and manage toward goals that impact personal, team and company related objectives

Work Experience, Education, Certification/Training Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent certifications / experience required
  • 5+ years IT development experience required.  Operational and/or Incident management experience required
  • 3+ years of Business Intelligence application delivery using the Microsoft Business Intelligence stack (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, SQL Server, Power BI) required
  • Strong experience in relational and dimensional data modeling required
  • Strong database and SQL experience required.  Microsoft T-SQL preferred
  • Experience working on a project team using a waterfall and/or agile SDLC methodology required (Agile preferred)
  • Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server required.  SQL Server 2012 Required and 2016 a plus
  • Experience in the Insurance industry and/or LOMA coursework; ALMI designation required
  • ITIL Foundation V3 Certification required
  • Experience with Workload Automation Tools – Control-M V8 or greater is a plus (Control-M V9 Preferred)
  • Experience with Microsoft MDS and Master Data Management a plus

Performance-Based Compensation: This position is eligible for an annual incentive based on individual and Company performance. Note: Pursuant to Colorado law, Protective is providing the applicable salary range for Colorado residents.  Protective’s targeted salary range for this position is $90,000 to $120,000. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to, job location, skills, and experience. The range listed is just one component of Protective’s total compensation package for employees. This position also offers additional incentive opportunities through an annual incentive based on individual and Company performance as well as a 401k match and a pension plan.
