Every day, hundreds of millions of people all over the world use Spotify to discover and listen to music and podcasts. The product includes highly personalized surfaces as well as original playlists such as “Discover Weekly” and “Daily Mix”, all powered by some of the most sophisticated machine learning algorithms in the audio space.
To enable this and all other teams in the ML space, including ads, content, and more, the Machine Learning platform team owns and maintains the infrastructure and the strategy for the platform, on top of which machine learning is done at Spotify. As a member of our ML platform team, you will be working with a cross-functional team of engineers, product managers, user researchers, designers, and data scientists to craft the ML practitioner experience across Spotify. You will help build products that enable 60+ teams and 600+ Engineers to apply Machine Learning to initiatives that connect creators on Spotify’s platform (music, podcasts, and more) to the rapidly growing global Spotify user base.

What you'll do:

  • Contribute to our Backstage plugin ML Home that provides an integrated view of ML Product Development Lifecycle and provides users actionable insights that guide decision making for different contexts (e.g Model Evaluation, A/B Testing, Monitoring & Troubleshooting)
  • Partner with product, design, insights, and engineering to deliver a cohesive user experience by building empathy for our users and understanding the tools they interact with across the Machine Learning product development lifecycle
  • Deliver scalable, testable, maintainable, and high-quality code
  • Share knowledge, evangelize standard methodologies, and collaborate with some of Spotify’s best web engineers

Who you are:

  • Have at least 4 years of experience in modern Web Development (User Experience thinking and skills are a plus)
  • Aware of the latest trends and have strong fundamentals in JavaScript,TypeScript, React, HTML, and CSS
  • You care about user experience and have experience collaborating with multi-functional partners (e.g. product, design, user research) to build responsive, intuitive applications
  • Passionate about code quality, continuous delivery, and automated testing
  • Have some experience writing APIs in Python or Java and have are familiar with Machine Learning
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and can communicate your ideas, especially to those not technologically proficient
  • You enjoy participating in the end-to-end product development lifecycle: user research, product discovery, design, coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and user feedback
  • You value team success over personal success
