What We Need

We’re looking for a skilled and passionate Senior Data Scientist to work in our growing Game Science and Lifecycle team. They will primarily focus on the console/PC versions of our flagship games NBA 2K and PGA 2K, and be responsible for leading our Experimentation Strategy with in-game messaging and personalization for player experience optimization. We have the opportunity to manage an established experimentation agenda for in-game user interventions while also partnering with data engineering and analytics to enhance the capabilities and scale of our experimentation platform to unlock new scenarios for user journey personalization.

Millions play our games daily, and in-game monetization is part of the Analytics charter. Our team has rich datasets to play with and a direct path to implementing our outputs. The ideal candidate will have experience with sophisticated product analytics/data science for similar games with large in-game economies and rich and varied gameplay.

What You Will Do

  • Drive the experimentation agenda and insights feedback cycle into player personalization and content programming strategies
  • Lead process and tools improvement scenarios and partner with Data Engineering to deliver upgrades in scale and complexity of experimentation and reporting platform
  • Analyze player gameplay experiment data to understand player behavior and recommend actions to improve the player experience
  • Build in-game measurement and experimentation methodologies
  • Work closely with development teams to provide insights into game quality, difficulty, and fun. Cooperate closely with the Game Applied AI team to understand deeply the performance of Matchmaking, Recommender and Personalization Algorithms, Anti-fraud/toxicity, and Content Recommendations models

What Will Make You a Great Fit

  • Proven track record in data mining & analytics, building models with large, complex, and multi-dimensional data sets
  • Experiment strategy and program management with A/B, Reinforcement Learning, Multi-armed Bandits
  • Statistical hypothesis testing, experimental design, sizing and results interpretation
  • Experience in relational databases, and SQL data carpentry. We use Snowflake for our data warehouse and have access to direct streams as well.
  • Python, R, or equivalent data analysis and computation toolchains

Bonus Points

  • Experience with big data technologies such as Spark or NoSQL DBs
  • Experience with predictive modeling techniques
  • Proficient in R or Python machine learning and related modules
  • Video games industry experience
