We are looking for a savvy Data Engineer to join our growing team of analytics experts. You will be responsible for expanding and optimising our data and data pipeline architecture, as well as optimising data flow and collection for cross functional teams. The ideal candidate will have some experience in data pipeline building and data wrangling who enjoys optimising data systems and building them from the ground up. You will support our software developers, database architects, data analysts and data scientists on data initiatives and will ensure optimal data delivery architecture is consistent throughout ongoing projects. You must be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems and products. The right candidate will be excited by the prospect of optimising or even re-designing our company’s data architecture to support our next generation of products and data initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assembling large, complex sets of data that meet non-functional and functional business requirements
  • Identifying, designing and implementing internal process improvements including re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, optimising data delivery, and automating manual processes
  • Building required infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation and loading of data from various data sources using AWS and SQL technologies
  • Building analytical tools to utilise the data pipeline, providing actionable insight into key business performance metrics including operational efficiency and customer acquisition
  • Working with stakeholders including data, design, product and executive teams and assisting them with data-related technical issues
  • Working with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data and Design teams to support their data infrastructure needs while assisting with data-related technical issues

Requirements

  • Experience as a data engineer, software developer, or similar.
  • Expert proficiency in Python, C++, Java, R, and SQL.
  • Familiarity with Hadoop or suitable equivalent.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A knack for independence and group work.
  • Scrupulous approach to duties.
  • Capacity to successfully manage a pipeline of duties with minimal supervision.
