Wayfair’s Algorithms & Analytics team creates data science powered products to inform key business decisions.

Wayfair’s Pricing & Profitability Algorithms team leverages data and technology to govern a two-sided marketplace between suppliers and consumers via pricing and exposure (e.g., search) mechanisms. Using best-in-class approaches across machine learning, economics and statistics, team members work to understand complex market phenomena, and inform pricing, product assortment, and onsite content. A continuous flow of experiments ensures deeper insight and refinement of our products.

We are looking for an Associate Director of Data Science Product Management. Our Algorithms build an understanding of cost and long-term total profit of selling a given product to a given customer at a given point of time. We vend these predictions to Wayfair’s Commercial Systems across Pricing, Storefront, Marketing, and many more. We have products in all different parts of the lifecycle - from greenfield to 5th generation which enables an engaging mixture of work across scrappy MVP and sophisticated science techniques. This is a highly cross-functional role that will require technical acumen coupled with executive influencing and stakeholder management skills.

What You'll Do

  • Establish the vision, strategy and roadmap for our data science powered applications.
  • Translate high-level business projects into detailed technical deliverables and manage projects to completion by working with your Data Science, Analytics, Data Engineering & Engineering teams.
  • Partner with key stakeholders including Pricing & Profitability, Search & Recommendations, Supply Chain, Supplier Marketing and Category Management to develop a cohesive strategy for a variety of high impact business problems.
  • Act as subject-matter expert on all data science systems and technologies to non-technical stakeholders.
  • As a member of our Product leadership team, you will help us continually improve our overall department across a variety of topics: recruiting, learning & development, team culture, product development processes and external speaking/context generation.

What You’ll Need

  • 7+ years' experience with developing and deploying data science products including model prototyping, evaluation and deployment & monitoring at scale as a Product Manager, Engineer and/or Data Scientist.
  • 3+ years' experience as a Product Manager working with machine learning data scientists and managing agile sprints for a team of engineers.
  • Experience influencing senior leaders across organizations to make progress on your roadmap.
  • Advanced degree such as a MS/PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Mathematics or a related quantitative or technical field.
