Sr. Data Engineer

Electrum is an online solar and renewable energy marketplace that provides businesses and homeowners with expert advice and a concierge experience when it comes to home and business electrification.   Our marketplace is integrated into Utility and OEM websites as a co-branded or white labeled solution offered to their customers. We have a growing list of partners and new verticals to deliver on. We help home and business owners figure out just how much they can save on their home energy costs with electrification; help determine the most affordable options; and guide them through all available tax incentives and rebates.  
We have a bidding platform with a national network of vetted installers and solar companies competing for our client's business. A homeowner's Energy Advisor will present the project for bid, talk to installers, pre-screen installer bids, and assist the customer to select the best customized option for their home and budget.  This process results in great deals for our customers, and even more, a great experience for our customers!

We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join our team. You will use various tools and methods to transform raw data into useful data systems with the goal of efficiency enhancement by aligning data systems with business goals. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention-to-detail, excellent organizational skills, and experience in a similar role. With this role you will be in a full-time in-office position and shall be reporting directly to the Director of Technical Program Management.

Responsibilities:

• Translate business needs to technical specifications.
• Design, build and deploy BI solutions.
• Maintain and support data analytics platforms.
• Conduct unit testing and troubleshooting.
• Evaluate and improve existing BI systems.
• Collaborate with teams to integrate systems.
• Develop and execute database queries and conduct analyses.
• Understanding database operations and optimization for (MYSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle DB, PostgreSQL, NoSQL, flat-file storage, etc.).
• Create visualizations and reports for the requested projects.
• Develop and update technical documentation.

• 5-6 years working in a tech support role.
• Proven experience as a BI Developer or Data Science.
• Proven working experience as a Database Administrator.
• Hands-on experience with database standards and end user applications.
• Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity and SQL.
• Familiarity with database design, documentation and coding.
• Previous experience with DBA case tools (front-end/back-end) and third party tools.
• Must have experience using BI reporting tools such as Tableau and Quick Sight.
• Good to have experience in tools such as Board, Power BI, Domo, Looker, MicroStrategy, Cognos Analytics, Oracle Analytics, Cloud, QlikView, Dundas BI, Sisense, Spotfire, Pentaho).
• Industry experience is preferred.
• Background in data warehouse design (e.g., dimensional modelling) and data mining.
• In-depth understanding of database management systems, online analytical processing (OLAP) and ETL (Extract, transform, load) framework.
• Familiarity with BI technologies.
• Proven abilities to take initiatives and be innovative.
• Analytical mind with a problem-solving aptitude.
