Senior Machine Learning Engineer

We build a cloud-native Intelligent Document Processing platform that helps companies of all sizes minimize the time they spend manually processing documents. 

The mission of our Data Capture Tribe is to find a way to effectively and efficiently teach computers to understand documents the same way humans do, inadvertently creating a standard that does not force businesses to change the way they communicate with each other today.

We’re looking for an experienced applied machine learning researcher that can

• build new and improve existing deep learning models for classification, clustering, segmentation, detection, similarity search, and many more in the domain of Document Information Extraction
• create, establish, and ensure a high standard of research and development and respective practices
• actively participate in the personal development of less experienced researchers

The role

As a Data Capture Tribe Researcher, you will be responsible for

• Preparation of high-quality datasets via analysis, cleaning, preprocessing, and augmentation to reach the best possible results in the training of machine learning models.
• Research, design, implement, and experiment with, be it a bleeding edge or state of the art, deep learning or GOFAI, machine learning models and support, maintain, and keep improving the existing ones.
• Choosing appropriate evaluation metrics and/or design and implementation of your metrics for model evaluation and model selection that strongly correlate with customer value-added KPIs

The tribe is a cross-functional team of engineers, researchers, and product managers, creating a highly collaborative environment. To fulfill your goals, you will be expected to

• Collaborate with the Annotation Team to establish standards and best practices for document annotation to build high quality datasets for model training
• Collaborate with Machine Learning Engineers to help you build tools and libraries that empower more effective research and turn experimental work into production-grade solutions
• Share findings with Researcher Scientists for the purposes of revolutionizing Document Information Extraction
• Collaborate with Product Managers on the discovery, preparation, scoping, and delivery of ML-based product features or their improvements in accordance with business goals and KPIs

Key Qualifications

Any of the following

• Demonstrated expertise in machine learning research with a publication record in relevant conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, ICLR, CVPR, ICCV, AAAI, etc.).
• A top competitor on Kaggle and/or other Machine Learning competition sites.
• 2+ years of experience in a similar position, including a successful ML project delivery in a top Czech or a comparable company (Seznam, Avast, Cisco, IBM/Watson, Iterait, CEAI, …)
• An author or main contributor of a relevant and highly praised Machine Learning GitHub project.

Furthermore, to set you up for success as a Machine Learning Researcher at Rossum, we look for the following skills and experience:

• Having experience with leading a research team or being responsible for the end-to-end delivery of an ML-based product feature.
• Excellent spoken and written communication skills to communicate effectively within and beyond the team.
• Ability to work in a collaborative environment.
• Solid knowledge and understanding of contemporary machine learning and statistical models.
• Ability to write high-quality, well-tested, and documented code in Python and established ML frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Communication in English as a default.

In addition, the following would be an advantage:

• Be familiar with and comfortable with containers and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, …).
• Experience with some or all of
• Monitoring and Metrics Dashboards
• Investigating and Resolving Issues in Production
• Automated Tests
