What you’ll do:
Analytics Engineers create clean, well-documented data models. At Pinnacol, Analytics Engineers primarily work with SQL for data transformation and Python for pipelines and orchestration. Once models are published, Analytics Engineers are responsible for testing their pipelines and monitoring data quality. Additionally, Analytics Engineers provide feedback and contribute to the design for data governance to ensure that confidential data is protected at all times.

What you can expect:
- Build and maintain clean data sets to support self service and discovery by analysts and other power users
- Create and support data transformation pipelines
- Write tests to validate assumptions and monitor data quality
- Provide feedback and contribute to design for data governance/access
- Document the models, pipelines, and transformations related to data movement and storage
- Works with IS and business partners to gather detailed requirements and understand need
- Ensure day-to-day activities are consistent with Data strategies and standard processes
- Create and maintain optimal data pipelines
- Researches data design future state options and current state opportunities
- Actively experiments with new ideas
- Understands the data and business needs of the data
- Uses standard common business vocabulary
- Builds data structures with an eye on data volume, security and long term feasibility
- Train other employees as needed
- Present business and technical subjects to team members or other internal groups
- Perform other duties as assigned
What you need to be successful:

Experience with data analysis, business intelligence, data engineering or similar is required.
-
Advanced knowledge of databases and data pipelines required.

Demonstrated knowledge of SQL and database optimization required, experience with BigQuery/Postgres/Oracle a plus.

Demonstrated knowledge working with Python required, experience with Airflow is a plus.

Ability to learn new technical skills required. Strong problem solving abilities required.

Insurance industry experience is a plus.

- Communication: Ability to communicate highly technical ideas to a wide variety of audiences, including technical and non-technical audiences

We consider what you’d like to be paid, the skills and experience you bring, what similar jobs pay in the Denver area and make sure there’s equal pay for equal work among those you’ll be working with. The compensation amount for this role is targeted at $ 112,000 - $ 119,700.00. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including your experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.
