Job summary
This role will be responsible for the metadata management solution within AWS and will partner closely with the business and technical teams to define and enforce a governance roadmap. This role will work on information models, workflow automation, metadata architecture and content validation rules. This role will also build relationships across the enterprise to align metadata landscape to strategic vision through process, governance, standardization.
The role will advocate for both the customer and content developers by designing new content management lifecycles, content models, and reuse architecture while driving automation through metadata management. You will use industry leading tools, techniques and architectures to partially or completely automate common, repeatable content management tasks to minimize manual effort and drive efficiency.

Key job responsibilities
• Metadata collection or creation, collation, cleaning, and analysis - including instituting and maintaining standardization practices, controlled vocabularies, taxonomies, and naming conventions
• Define and oversee content data governance policy and standards around metadata across all defined stakeholders
• Provide support for content creation workflows, tagging, organizing and maintaining digital content
• Partner with Product and Technology teams, content administrators, and content developers to assess the current content experiences and determine immediate and long-term needs to support content management, publishing, and reuse
• Auditing and resolving problems, such as duplicate, missing, or incorrect metadata
• Creating and maintaining content metadata documentation, best practices and training materials
• Think critically, investigate the root causes, provide feedback as well as solutions, and communicate this effectively with multiple teams across AWS
• Create process documents, functional specifications, user stories, and other artifacts to describe the intended user experience
• Review content metadata analytics and provide metadata findings and optimization recommendations to content stakeholders
• Maintain data dictionary by identifying gaps in documentation, seeking guidance from subject matter experts, and updating data dictionary accordingly
• Work with data scientists and ontologists to collect questions and requests for clarification and manage content

Basic Qualifications


• Degree in Library Science, Information Systems, Linguistics, Computer Science or Data Management or equivalent professional experience
• 5+ years of relevant work experience working in content metadata or information architect role
• Proven skills in data management and data research techniques
• Experience interpreting and communicating analytics
• Ability to quickly understand complex processes and communicate them in simple language
• Proven track record of strong communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to communicate to senior leadership (Director and VP levels)
• Detail-oriented problem solver who is able to work in fast-changing environment and manage ambiguity
• Solid understanding of Agile product design and delivery; Experience with project lifecycle from design to delivery
• Experience creating and communicating technical requirements to engineering teams
• A team player with high attention to detail and ability to work in a diverse, multiple stakeholder environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Library Science, Information Systems, Linguistics, Computer Science or Data Management or equivalent professional experience
• Experience building metadata models in the technical documentation space
• Experience with program management and stakeholder management
• Demonstrated experience with headless web content systems
• The pay range for this position in Colorado is $148,700 - $201,200 (yr); however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. The pay range for this position in Jersey City is $163,000 - 221,300/yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per the Pay Transparency Regulation of Jersey City Municipal Code. Base pay information is based on market location.
