Position Description

The Artificial Intelligence Architect will drive the integration of AI technologies into NIA's business processes by collaborating with leadership to identify opportunities, researching ethical and legal challenges, and developing strategic objectives. This role involves conducting market research, performing "alpha" testing, and recommending AI platforms. The architect will also solve complex problems through critical thinking and analysis, breaking them down into manageable components for development teams or client presentations, ensuring the successful implementation of AI solutions within the agency.

Responsibilities

• Thought Leadership
• Collaborate with NIA leadership to identify opportunities for integrating AI technologies into agency business processes.
• Research and advise on ethical and legal challenges related to AI use in government.
• Partner with stakeholders to develop strategic objectives for AI implementation.
• Artificial Intelligence Platform
• Conduct market research to evaluate the technical feasibility of AI platforms.
• Perform “alpha” testing and recommend AI platforms for NIA.
• Critical Thinking & Analysis
• Solve complex problems through critical thinking and analysis.
• Break down problems into manageable components for development teams or client presentations.
• Digital Whiteboarding Tools
• Utilize digital whiteboarding tools (Visio, Adobe XD, PowerPoint, Figma) to provide a centralized reference point in virtual meetings.
• Adapt and modify whiteboard sessions in real-time based on user input, using the sessions to generate documentation.
• Azure DevOps, Documentation & Communication
• Administer Work Item Management platforms such as Azure DevOps.
• Run meetings, create and manage queries, and keep work items updated to ensure team alignment.
• Develop documentation and user guides for NIA applications for use by developers and NIA staff.
• Communicate and collaborate with teams to refine and iterate on beneficial ideas.
• Serve as a liaison between stakeholders to clarify and articulate application design and implementation.

Requirements

• Software development or Data Science background
• Experience with various AI cloud platforms such as Azure, Google, AWS, and NVIDIA
• Experience with various models (Embedding, Llama, GPT, Mistral, etc.).
• Proficient in Python libraries such as PyPDF, pandas, nltk, spacy, openai, jinja2.
• Knowledge of the differences between chat, completion, and assistant models.
• Experience in building Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) applications using Azure services or LangChain.
• Experience working with Azure Search, including indexes, vector indexes, and indexers.
• Proficiency in using Azure AI Prompt Flow.
• Experience with deployment and evaluation within Azure AI Studio.
• Knowledge of components, jobs, and pipelines in Azure ML Studio.
• Experience securing Azure AI and ML endpoints using Identity and Access Management (IAM).
• Expertise in instruction-based prompt engineering, as well as zero-shot and few-shot learning.

Salary Ranges: $100,000 - 200,000
