BURNCO Rock Products Ltd has a fantastic opportunity for a Business Intelligence Analyst out of one of our regional offices in Irving, Texas or Henderson, Colorado. You will report to our Director, Customer Solutions, and work closely with our internal key stakeholders in IT, HR, Finance, as well as our lines of business (Concrete, Asphalt, Aggregate).

As a Business Intelligence Analyst, you will play a crucial role in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to provide insights that support decisions making within the organization. This position requires a deep understanding of data analysis, reporting and visualization techniques. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders from Business, IT, and external vendors; you'll be instrumental in propelling us toward data-driven, technology-infused excellence.

 

What You Will Be Doing

How we see your role breaking down:

Empower Insights – 50%

  • Partner with stakeholders across business units (Operations, Finance, Executive leadership) to ascertain their data and reporting needs, evaluate feasibility, identify gaps, and document business requirements.
  • Understand the reporting needs and wants of the business by gathering and documenting requirements in order to properly articulate the reporting request
  • Perform complex data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights, and ensure requirements are being met
  • Gather raw data from various sources such as databases, software systems; utilize statistical methods and data mining techniques to derive meaningful conclusions.
  • Data stewardship - Implement data quality checks and validation processes to ensure the integrity and reliability of data, reports and analysis. 
  • Interpret complex data sets and present findings in a clear and concise manner to non-technical stakeholders

Collaborative Agility – 30%

  • Work in an Agile setting, collaborating seamlessly with team members to drive effective outcomes.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams such as corporate and operations to understand their reporting needs and provide relevant insights.
  • Communicate and collaborate with engineering teams and third party vendors as needed, to enable the delivery of reports and other analytical work products.

Documentation and process adherence – 20%

  • Document reporting processes, methodologies, and findings for future reference
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for reference and future improvements.

Working Conditions

The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular work week from Monday to Friday and on-call availability during implementation and burn-in/warranty periods, dependent upon activity scope.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to diagnose problems efficiently and provide effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, business stakeholders, and external vendors.
  • Attention to detail with a focus on maintaining comprehensive documentation for integrations, fixes, and enhancements.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving technologies and proactively seek opportunities for process improvement and optimization.
  • Self-motivated individual with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous learning.

Experience/Technical Skills/Knowledge

  • 1-3+ years experience within a reporting analyst capacity
  • Power BI, SQL, Python, and a knowledge of dimensional data modeling would be an asset.
  • Exposure to Snowflake and familiarity with applications like ERP systems will be highly valued.
  • Understanding and familiarity with applications such as Oracle, Apex, OnBase, and Command are also seen as valuable assets.
  • Experience in the Construction Materials industry is an asset

 

Education/Certification/Designation

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Economics, Statistics, or similar quantitative disciplines. Equivalent practical experience may be considered.

 

Salary range - $76K-$104K USD
