JOB PURPOSE

The role of Data Analyst involves working on defined data set within the Land domain as part of team dedicated to the structuring, standardisation and refinement of Janes Aerospace, Defence and Intelligence data.

The Data Analyst will have the opportunity to join a team at the centre of Janes’ products and future vision, taking a role in supporting data outputs that will deliver enhanced data solutions for high-end customers through the rationalisation, structuring and linking of data.

No two tasks are the same on this team, be it structuring a family of equipment or establishing relationships between several different sets of data and cross checking or updating specifications, there are always fresh opportunities to be challenged and to find solutions to problems.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AT JANES

Working as a data analyst to create, review, update or delete data specifically covering Land Platforms as part of the Land Platforms team.

Ensuring correctness, currency, completeness, and consistency of data through rigorous open-source research and consultation with in-house subject matter experts and defence media contributors.

Producing high quality structured data by carefully managing the data capture process to provide customers with datasets that can be easily interrogated.

Assisting in identifying and working to exacting data standards that enable all Janes Aerospace and Defence data to be modular, allowing greater flexibility in delivery for customer specific requirements as well as producing data used in enabling A.I. applications.

Creating linkages between data sets across the Land product area, multiplying the value of data by creating relationships with other relevant fields.

Undertaking data orientated projects as required, involving the assessment, rationalisation and tidying up of data with adherence to existing standards.

THE IDEAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE FOR THIS ROLE ARE

• Minimum graduation at Bachelors degree level or equivalent.

• Knowledge of aerospace and defence subject matter and terminology - especially logistics and supporting platforms would be especially valuable.

• Excellent attention to detail and a logical approach to problem solving.

• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel applications.

• Experience of working within a data environment (databases, data transformation, information sciences or similar).

• Categorisation/classification experience.
