Job summary
Amazon Connections is changing the way that we use the voice of employee to improve business outcomes and the employee experience of an incredibly complex, global workforce. We are looking for a senior data scientist to lead projects from start to finish. This involves identifying opportunities, developing, testing and deploying machine learning models for Connections and then scaling them up to other internal People Engagement products. These solutions help generate insights from the vast amount of workforce data at scale and help Amazon become Earth's Best Employer.

Key job responsibilities
  • Collaborating with scientists and product managers to identify opportunities
  • Developing algorithms / models to generate insights at scale
  • Collaborating with software development teams to deploy models into production
  • Coaching junior scientists and providing thought leadership

Basic Qualifications


  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years of experience with data scripting languages (e.g SQL, Python, R etc.) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, or Matlab)
  • 4+ years working as a Data Scientist

  • Master's degree or above from a quantitative field
  • Proficiency in ML algorithms
  • Industry experience in deploying models into production
  • Comfortable with ambiguity

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with model explainability tools
  • Familiarity with causal inference techniques
  • Experience with working workforce data
  • Experience using AWS products
  • Knowledge of software engineering best practices for the full development life cycle (i.e., coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, and testing)
