Senior Backend Engineer (ML Ops, Python), Semantic Maps

About this position

We are looking for talented Senior (Software/Backend/ML Ops) Engineers who are enthusiastic about building core software and infrastructure for mapping. Our services focus on automated annotations for city-scale maps using machine learning. You will drive our efforts towards deployment, post-processing and infrastructure of these services. You will collaborate with researchers to bring algorithms from concept to product and deployment in the real world at scale. You will work in a complex and growing system where new features are being added and evaluated rapidly.

What You'll Be Doing

• Build, deploy, maintain and optimize machine learning-based systems for mapping needs.
• Make our services scalable and serverless through cloud technologies.
• Work with point cloud, image, and other sensor data to aid in semantic mapping. 
• Work with teams focusing on High-Definition mapping applications and Computer Vision/Machine Learning models (e.g. SLAM, segmentation, object detection) and participate in integrating and validating the modules.
• Create automated tools for more efficient data manipulation, analysis, and visualization.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree or higher - Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or a related field.
• Strong software-engineering skills with Python.
• Experience with cloud computing platforms, like AWS, GCP, etc.
• Experience with machine learning frameworks, like PyTorch, Tensorflow, etc.
• Experience with deployment using Docker, REST API, CI/CD, Terraform, Argo, etc.
• Experience with deployment of Machine Learning models into production.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Bonus Points (not required)

• Experience building systems using SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Experience working with mapping software and/or familiarity with SLAM algorithms.
• Industry-level experience with autonomous vehicle software, automotive software, mapping applications, HD Maps, lidar data, and/or geospatial data.
