Description Overview

The Data Scientist Intern will be responsible for conducting advanced analytics activities, which include analyzing data, building machine learning models, performing exploratory analysis, collaborating with stakeholders, applying artificial intelligence technologies, and helping Perrigo explore new opportunities. This role involves working on various projects, both independently and in teams. The problems to be solved range from traditional manufacturing datasets (such as production and financial data) to non-traditional datasets like biological response data and scientific study results. Having a broad background in different domains is considered an advantage. 

Scope of the Role


The intern will collaborate with the Perrigo Advanced Analytics Manager and subject matter experts to collect and document process flows, requirements, and business value drivers, as well as define and understand problems. Additionally, they will cleanse, structure, and conduct exploratory analysis on datasets to support the development of project solutions. Responsibilities also include developing machine learning models, creating model pipelines, and other solution components. Participation in code reviews, debugging solutions, and validating model performance is expected, along with creating documentation for solution code.
 

Experience Required

  • Must be pursuing a bachelors of master degree in business, computer science, data science, etc.
  • Good knowledge of R, Python, or other statistical languages. 
  •  Experience with foundational models including tree models, regression models, and other ML algorithms is essential. Experience with tools like Jupyter notebooks, Anaconda, or similar tools is desired. 
  • Good working knowledge of SQL, excel, and Microsoft azure or other cloud environments is a plus. 
  • Strong analytical and communication skills are a major factor in success for this role. 
  • Excellent time management skills are necessary as work will consist of a mixture of long-term projects and ad-hoc/fast-protype requests.
