As a rapidly growing startup, we are looking for a Machine Learning Engineer to join our 1up Labs team. Our Labs team is a new team focused on innovation and experimentation utilizing one of the largest private repositories of healthcare claims and clinical data in the world (over 35 million patients). 
In this role, you will help design and build new algorithms, as well as products and API’s built on top of these algorithms, to help deliver insight to clinical and payer 1up clients. We are looking for a founding member to help set the cultural and technical foundations for the team.

In this role, you’ll get to:

  • Develop and/or use algorithms and statistical predictive models to evaluate risk, cost, and clinical outcomes for large cohorts of patients
  • Perform analysis of structured and unstructured data to solve problems while working closely with clients 
  • Develop and participate in presentations to existing and prospective clients
  • Interact with internal and external peers to iterate quickly on models and APIs
  • Use strong knowledge of algorithms and predictive models to investigate problems, detect patterns and recommend solutions
  • Use strong programming skills to explore, examine and interpret large volumes of data in various forms

We are looking for people who have:

  • Expertise in machine learning/deep learning using PyTorch, Tensorflow, or Keras (PyTorch preferred)
  • Experience building ML models and data pipelines at scale
  • Experience with various types of ML models, specifically neural network based models for sequence to sequence, multilayer perceptrons, CNNs and RNNs
  • 2+ years experience with PySpark, Databricks or comparable data pipeline tools
  • 2+ years experience working with AWS, GCP, Azure or comparable web services

You may also have:

  • Experience developing healthcare data analytics products using the following programming languages: Python, SQL
  • Experience working with SQL and/or NoSQL databases (Postgres, Elasticsearch, DynamoDB etc).
  • Proficiency with microservices development, containerization, orchestration and deployment in a Linux environment
