The Opportunity:

Commercetools encourages critical thinking and data-driven decision-making. To support our data strategy, we are hiring an experienced Data Scientist. Essentially, you will support our company with insights gained from analyzing data. Our ultimate goal is to create and use datasets to provide data-driven analysis with current data and predictive calculations. You will be part of the Business Intelligence team that has the responsibility of extracting, modeling and providing data and information to the whole company. 

Please note that for this role, we can currently offer full-remote work for candidates based in the EU and in the UK. 

Your Mission:

  • Mine and analyze data from company databases to drive optimization and improvement of product development, marketing techniques and business strategies
  • Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of current and new data sources and data gathering techniques
  • Develop custom data models to be used by BI analysts and department stakeholders
  • Use predictive modeling to increase and optimize business outcomes
  • Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy
  • Support Data Engineers and BI Analysts on planning and developing new data models that allow user-friendly and customized reports

 

What you need to succeed:

  • 3-5 years professional experience in the field of Data Science
  • Experience in managing complex projects 
  • Good understanding of data structures and data management 
  • Strong analytical thinking skills
  • Experience using statistical computer languages (R, Python, SQL, etc) to manipulate data and draw insights from large datasets
  • Experience working with and creating data architectures
  • Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications
  • A naturally proactive approach with the ability to bring new ideas to fruition in a solution-oriented way
  • Fluency in English 
  • Nice to have:  hands-on experience with BI solutions (Tableau, Qlikview, Google Data Studio, Microsoft Power BI, etc.) and Data Engineering solutions (Google Cloud Platform, GitHub, CircleCI, etc.)
