Product Data Architect 

  

Salary: National ranging from £67,100 to £110,000 and London from £73,700 to £110,000

The team/department  

The Data Architecture team is responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining the structure of an organisation data assets. This includes defining data standards, models, and frameworks to ensure data is organised, stored and accessed efficiently and securely. The team collaborates with stakeholders to understand data needs and other data initiatives to support the organisation’s data-driven decision making and strategic objectives. 

What you will be doing (the role)  

  • Lead the data design of solutions for large projects and programs; through expert knowledge translate high-level business requirements into data models and appropriate metadata, test data, and data quality standards  

  • Communicating, improving and implementing the key principles, methods and models that describe the enterprise's future state in relation to data

  • Advising and participating in the specification, selection, design, implementation, and operation of information security controls to maintain the confidentiality, integrity, availability, accountability and relevant compliance of information systems to security standards  

  • Contributing to the enterprise data framework and maintaining expertise in industry innovation in data architecture to improve maturity of the organisation's approach to data architecture

  • Leading contributions to the relevant communities of practice, providing thought leadership, coaching and mentoring of other employees to build the overall business, technical and Data Architecture capability within Strategy & Architecture

What you will get from the role  

  • We are looking for a Product Data Architect with experience of complex problem analysis, conceptual data modelling, requirements capture and refinement

  • You'll be looking for an opportunity to work with senior business stakeholders to understand, scope and interpret strategic business change into data concepts which can then shape the broader data landscape

  • You will be a key contributor to data procedures practices and policies and make a substantial and valued contribution to the FCA in a role that offers great challenges in the immediate future and as the FCA develops

The skills and experience you will have

Minimum Criteria   

  • Hands on experience of conceptual, logical and physical data modelling in a complex environment

  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills, ability to communicate to technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Experience in data modelling (3NF, star, snowflake, DV2, etc. schemas)

Essential  Criteria  

  • Significant experience in traditional data modelling techniques (3NF, Dimensional, Snowflake, DV2 etc) using a range of modelling and architecture tools. (Erwin, Power Designer, Sparx etc)

  • Experience of business analysis or requirement elicitation and shaping

  • Exposure to relational/non-relational databases, data warehouse and big data/data lake concepts

  • An understanding in creating data dictionaries and taxonomies and developing best practices and governance for dictionary maintenance

  • Familiarity/experience in finance regulation domain

  • Experience of working with internal customers to define data relevant use cases and build appropriate models which meet their needs
