About the Company

At Torc, we have always believed that autonomous vehicle technology will transform how we travel, move freight, and do business.

A leader in autonomous driving since 2007, Torc has spent over a decade commercializing our solutions with experienced partners. Now a part of the Daimler family, we are focused solely on developing software for automated trucks to transform how the world moves freight.

Join us and catapult your career with the company that helped pioneer autonomous technology, and the first AV software company with the vision to partner directly with a truck manufacturer.

What You'll Do:

Responsible for various software development and engineering activities supporting the delivery of autonomy algorithm software to the overall system solution within our autonomy software algorithms components. Perform software development activities such as software architecture, design, coding, unit testing, integration, deployment, and maintenance within their assigned autonomy algorithms software component. Develop, implement and test autonomy algorithms with the areas of active sensing and information fusion. Develop perception algorithms to detect and perceive objects for Torc’s autonomous driving systems, allowing the system to understand and react to the environment around the vehicle in real-time. Create software to utilize algorithms that use sensor data from LiDAR, RADAR, and cameras to detect, classify, segment, and detect, segment, classify, and track obstacles in the vehicle's surrounding environment. Create a situational awareness for our behaviors and path planning teams to make vehicle decisions to navigate safety.

What You'll Need:

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or related technical field. Will accept a Bachelor's degree and five years of experience in lieu of the Master's degree. The five years of experience accepted in lieu of the master's degree must include 1) relevant autonomy algorithm software experience including state estimation
  • C++ software development and unit testing in Linux environment
  • Probability and linear algebra; 4) code and unit testing of autonomy algorithms for application within embedded application
  • Vehicle physics, motion control, dynamics and kinematics
  • ROS (Robot Operating System)
  • Linux development tool chains
  • 10% domestic travel required
