Senior Software Engineer, Machine Learning / DSP

We are currently expanding our interdisciplinary team of experts and seek outstanding and enthusiastic software engineers with experience in real-world applications to join our efforts in designing and co-developing a brain-computer interface (BCI) prototype. Our team is a key player within the international research and development field which deals with disruptive projects from ideation to productization. Senior Software Engineer candidates should have a proven software engineering track record and interest in machine learning, data science and signal processing.

Responsibilities

1. End to end ownership: design, build, ship, measure and maintain scalable software solutions.
2. Design and build software systems to support real-time machine learning algorithms.
3. Work with research ML engineers in our team and collaborators around the world.
4. Design and co-develop an end-to-end real-time signal processing prototype.
5. Lead and mentor junior engineers.
6. Provide code reviews for fellow machine learning and software engineers.
7. Collaborate with a cross-functional international team that brings together the best in class AI and Software Engineering to tackle the scientific challenges Deeplab is looking to find solutions for.
8. Work in a large code base using big data tools and state of the art technologies.

Requirements

1. BSc/MSc in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent.
2. 5+ years working experience developing and maintaining real-world systems in a Software and/or Data Engineering role.
3. Practical knowledge of software development concepts and best practices, including testing frameworks and automation.
4. Exceptional programming experience in Python and the SciPy ecosystem (e.g. numpy, pandas, matplotlib).
5. Highly Proficient in Linux environment.
6. Leading and management skills; strong communication skills to communicate presentations of complex concepts in a clear, concise and actionable manner.
7. Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to build strong relationships in a challenging international environment.

Nice to have

1. Knowledge in algorithms/tools for machine learning/deep learning (e.g. sklearn, PyTorch, Tensorflow, Keras).
2. Experience in C/C++ and optimisation.
3. Familiarity with relational and/or non-relational databases (e.g. MySQL, MongoDB).
4. Experience with large-scale data processing using frameworks like Apache Spark, Google Data Flow or Apache Bean.
5. Experience in working with real-time data processing & streaming data, such as Kafka, Kinesis, Flink.
6. Experience with containerisation (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes).
