Data Engineering Manager - Data Management

About the Role - We are looking for an experienced data engineer who has expertise and in-depth knowledge of building the products with the Do It Yourself(DIY) Vision. As a member of the Data Engineering team, you will be at the epicenter of an amazing company, experiencing extreme growth and solving the problems that come with scaling rapidly.
You will work closely with the business teams and other data teams to improve the accessibility & reliability of data while leveraging the largest-scale data processing technologies in the world. In order to succeed in this role, you should have a product mindset along with a strong vision of building data products for a massively scalable data engineering platform.
What You Will Do  - - Build and support the products for creating a self-serve data platform that enables users to manage the data on their own- Build and maintain the products for front end interface of data platform, data governance, data access, authorization and data discovery- Manage and mentor a data engineering team Containerization and deployment of microservices on Kubernetes- Design and deploy the data products on Google Cloud Platform- Collaborate with the data team and business teams to understand their requirements- Write code that is clear, concise, performant, tested and easily understandable by others

What are we looking for

• 8-12 years of working experience in data engineering and deploying applications in a cloud environment
• Experience with containerization, including Docker and Kubernetes
• Proficient in building the data products using any two of the following languages - Golang, Ruby on Rails, Java, NodeJS
• Strong understanding of Database with working knowledge of any RDBMS like postgres
• Experience in working with the Agile methodologies, Test Driven Development and implementing the CI/CD pipelines
• Good understanding of distributed database like Elasticsearch or MongoDB
• Strong programming and problem solving skills along with demonstrated ability to take accountability for achieving results
• Experience in designing and implementing standards, specifications and procedures

As GoPay scales in teams and size, the need for creating a reliable and scalable data infrastructure becomes highly important. As a data-driven organization, the data engineering team runs hundreds of instances and deployments across all of our products which directly impact millions of users every day. As a team, we’re concerned not only with the growth of the company, but each other’s personal and professional growths, too. With WFH becoming more normalized,  we do miss our monthly outings/dinners but thank goodness for the invention of Slack and Zoom calls that keep us feeling close.
