Company Summary:

What if you could join a rapidly growing company and play a critical role in bringing new medicines to patients through looking at and treating disease in a revolutionary way?

Cellarity's mission is to bring breakthrough medicines to patients by completely redefining the way drugs are discovered. Founded by Flagship Pioneering in 2017, Cellarity is designing medicines against the cell as opposed to a single molecular target. The company has developed a unique combination of expertise across network biology, high-resolution data, and machine learning to unlock new treatment options in a vast array of disease areas. Cellarity currently has drug discovery programs underway in metabolic disease, hematology, immuno-oncology and respiratory disease. The company has raised $123 million as part of a Series B funding round with contributions from world renown investors such as Blackrock, The Baupost Group, Banque Pictet, alongside Flagship Pioneering. Position Summary

At Cellarity, you’ll join an innovative and collaborative computational team, developing the first platform that uncovers and targets the causes of disease based on cell behavior: features learned from high-dimensional omics and phenotypic patient data that typically correspond to cellular programs.

You'll work closely with world-class computational biologists and machine learning scientists, biologists (co-developing biological hypotheses), chemists (co-developing clinical candidates), and technologists (co-developing proprietary data assets to rigorously advance the platform and its application).

If you’re eager to grow as a multi-lingual engineer, while guiding the generation and application of unique datasets to unlock high-impact capabilities in cellular-resolution drug development, then we’re eager to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing high quality, production ready code with well documented and testable APIs.
  • Working in a collaborative CI/CD software development environment, including use of git, participating in code reviews and independent development of robust code.
  • Building and maintaining machine learning and data infrastructure.
  • You will both lead and collaborate on the development of computational methods to predict and understand how chemical structure couples into representations of cellular programs. You will cover both modern machine learning methods and classical computational approaches.
  • You will integrate these tools into the computing platform and iterate based on feedback from medicinal chemists and computational chemists, who you will support as they apply the platform across disease programs.
  • You will prototype human-AI interfaces, write beautiful Python code, and ensure a great user experience for the tools you create.
  • You will clearly document and present your work to computational colleagues, as well as to interdisciplinary teams of biologists, technologists, and executives at company meetings. This requires continuous teaching, learning, and engagement with the bigger picture for cohesive impact.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate or Master's degree in bioinformatics, computer science, mathematics, physics, biology or related field.
  • Practical experience in Machine Learning models and Software Engineering.
  • A passion for (and track record of) innovation, an interest in exploring and leveraging new data modalities, and working across interdisciplinary teams
  • Experience conducting virtual screening based on pharmacophores or protein binding site structure
  • Practical programming and scripting skills, ideally in Python (PyTorch, Rdkit, etc.)
  • Fast learner, analytical thinker, creative, "hands-on", strong communication skills.
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • We would like to see your GitHub repository or papers that can showcase this. If you are from biotech/pharma, we would ask you to share (where you can), your experiences with a focus on your role and what you specifically contributed to in a program.
  • Interest in learning any of the above if you don’t yet know them!

Cellarity is committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity or Veteran status.

Recruitment & Staffing Agencies: Cellarity does not accept unsolicited resumes from any source other than candidates. The submission of unsolicited resumes by recruitment or staffing agencies to Cellarity or its employees is strictly prohibited unless contacted directly by Cellarity’s internal Talent Acquisition team. Any resume submitted by an agency in the absence of a signed agreement will automatically become the property of Cellarity, and Cellarity will not owe any referral or other fees with respect thereto.
