The Role

We're looking for a Data Engineer to join Acuant. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with cloud technologies to build and maintain robust data infrastructure. As the business generates more and more data every day, you will be presented with a variety of big data problems that require the best of data engineering practices and designs.

You have good interpersonal skills which you will employ regularly, including being a methodical, self-motivated individual, capable of keeping your eye on the finish line amidst competing priorities.

What you will do

You will pursue a variety of challenges, including:

  • Develop data pipelines to enable a variety of big data workloads, including machine learning, tracking product KPIs, general business intelligence, and data visualizations
  • Model data and select the appropriate storage and retrieval technologies
  • Build system to orchestrate ETL jobs
  • Maintain data infrastructure and monitor performance and errors

Requirements

  • Experience building big data systems
  • Advanced Python, SQL, Pandas
  • Practical experience with AWS technologies (S3, Athena, SQS, Kinesis, Lambda)
  • Relevant degree in data science, statistics, natural science, mathematics, computer science, or another related field
  • (Desirable) Domain knowledge in computer vision, fraud detection, and anti money laundering (AML)
