About the roleReporting to the International Development Lead, the Data Lead will be responsible for the ownership of the underpinning Data platforms and capabilities that are used by D&B International. These include the ownership for the WWN (World Wide Network) of D&B Data, Data platforms (including GCP) and Corporate Systems. This is a critical role for D&B International as it will be accountable for the availability of Data to our partners, analytics capabilities for our Data Science teams and the Corporate platforms used across D&B International.
This role will be driving a large amount of transformational change within our operating environment, primarily within the GCP space. 2022 sees the commencement of our strategic Data partnership with Google, this role will be required to define the strategy for International, how we transition platforms/services to GCP, the processes/structures required to manage GCP and the driving the partnership with Google for International to assist with the development of new products. The post holder will be expected to provide Technical/Architectural leadership for data, strategic project management and domain management at a senior level. Ultimately this is a role that needs a very strong understanding of GCP and cloud technologies as it will be accountable for building from the ground up the International capabilities.
The Data lead will additionally be required to own the WWN along with Corporate Systems, a lead for this area will report into this role who owns the ongoing delivery. This Data Lead will drive that function to ensure that the data is collected as planned, the systems/interfaces are maintained, that customers remain satisfied with submissions and that the GCP migration for this proceeds as planned. Corporate systems covers common platforms such as Salesforce that underpin our Sales processes, these platforms have Global teams supporting the implementation and with International teams responsible for the business changes required for our areas.
This role will ensure that our Data teams are able deliver on the technical commitments to meet our commercial objectives and will be responsible for keeping the European Leadership Team and other stakeholders updated on progress.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Defining, owning and delivering the International Data Strategy & Architecture for Google
  • Overall E2E project management responsibility for the delivery of the capabilities for the International Data space
  • Working in partnership with the Technology Project Leads, define, track and manage these projects to ensure delivery to budget and committed timelines
  • Develop the strategy and process for transitioning International platforms onto GCP where possible
  • Develop the teams and operating model for International development against GCP.
  • Partner with the International business to ensure the Data capabilities for growing the International Business into Google
  • Ownership of the WWN platform, ensuring that the platform operates to the right level of service, Data contracts and services are negotiated/defined.
  • Ownership of the Corporate Systems platforms (CRM & Sales Tools) defining the architecture and strategy for rationalizing these platforms.
  • Own and define the International release process for data, enabling ongoing releases into the production environments.
  • Ensure the ongoing health, stability and audit compliance of our data platforms, all platforms must meet our Security and Audit requirements.
  • Develop the vendor and location strategies for the domain, looking to utilize Technology centres in addition to the local market resource
  • Own the engagement with the Local teams to document and report on the migration opportunities along with the associated cost benefits
  • Ensuring SLAs, metrics and continuous improvement measures are in place and can be demonstrated.  
  • Manage a significant project budget, understanding, challenging and proactively managing their cost and time position to mitigate potential delays and identify efficiencies
  • Identify any dependencies, risks and issues and ensure mitigation plans in place
  • Work closely with regional representatives from multiple global teams to ensure an effective cross-functional approach
  • Act as pivotal connection between the Technology delivery team and the commercial business to ensure requirements and timelines are understood and aligned
  • Coach, develop and challenge the project team (direct reports or otherwise) to a successful implementation
  • Effectively communicate timely and relevant updates to multiple stakeholder groups including International Technology and the European Leadership Team

Key attributes

  • Proven track record of Google migrations, defining architectures, capabilities and migrations required to make D&B a lead innovator on the GCP platform
  • Proven track record of leading a major Technology transformation programmes across multiple countries as a senior project director or lead preferably within a large organisation
  • Good knowledge of Corporate Systems – CRM (Salesforce), CPQ, Marketing tools, etc
  • Strong Technology background – knowledge of agile delivery practices, large scale data platforms (GCP,AWS) and Java
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with experience of managing complex projects and performance management of suppliers
  • Ability to define and implement KPI’s around quality, efficiency and delivery for large distributed scrum teams.
  • Exceptional multi-tasker, strategic and tactical thinker
  • Ability to prioritise and adapt while maintaining the highest attention to detail
  • Able to shape, lead and control the delivery of complex, cross-functional projects, including optimization of resources and delivery to challenging timescales
  • Relationship management, able to build and maintain effective working relationships and work collaboratively with a wide range of colleagues
  • Understanding of relevant data legislation and privacy compliance across Europe

  • Ability to develop governance methodologies as an integral part of successful programme execution,
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of leaders, managers, and subject matter experts.

  • Demonstrable skills in presenting information effectively and delivering effective reporting mechanisms
  • Able to produce high quality, effective and thorough documentation
  • Able to manage and prioritise competing requirements
