Permanent and full-time Applied Researcher/Data Scientist position

We offer B2B and B2C products and solutions in computer vision, forecasting and document understanding across industries: automotive, healthcare, manufacturing, trading and scientific publishing.
For our product team in forecasting, we are seeking a permanent and full-time Applied Researcher/Data Scientist based in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Note: Only applications with cover letters will be taken into consideration.Major duties and responsibilities:
- Apply state-of-the-art machine learning and time series forecasting techniques to address complex real-world problems
- Collaborate with a team of researchers, data scientists and software engineers in both improving current solutions and in the development of new successful products
- Propose creative approaches to design solutions and turn them into prototypes
- Understand the business requirements and specificity of the application
- Assess opportunities of cutting-edge technologies by implementing the latest results in the literature
- Provide detailed analysis and present results in a clear manner to stakeholders (visualization tools, technical reports, …)
Requirements
Essential experience and skills:
- Strong academic qualification with internationally recognized Master or Doctorate degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science or equivalent
- In depth knowledge of machine learning, artificial intelligence technologies, time series forecasting and optimization, and ability to apply them to real-world use cases
- 2+ years work experience and successful track record in data driven model development and deployment
- Robust analytical, mathematical and statistical skills
- Ability to quickly prototype ideas and develop creative solutions to solve business questions
- Pragmatic attitude in solving complex problems with an emphasis on product development
- Highly proficient in Python (including common libraries such as SciPy, scikit-learn, pandas, TensorFlow…)
- Strong drive to learn and master new concepts, tools and techniques
- Interested in keeping up to date with state-of-the-art machine learning models
- Fluent communication in English (written and spoken)
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Proven ability to work both independently and in team-based environments
- Motivated to work in a fast-paced environment
Preferred:
- PhD in mathematics, engineering, computer science or equivalent
- Professional experience (2+ years ) in time series/machine learning
- Experience in commodity trading / finance is a plus
- Experience in recommendation systems / demand forecasting is a plus
- Software development life-cycle including unit testing, continuous integration, version control, debugging and documentation
- Experience in working in agile settings
