Based in Hyderabad, Quantium India provides vital support to the global business.  The teams in India work alongside global teams to deliver high quality analytics solutions to clients.

 

Role Summary

As a member of the Quantium India leadership team, this person builds, leads and manages a vertical within the India team to deliver a broad range of data driven solutions for Quantium’s global business. This person has direct responsibility for the vertical appointed team’s quality and success. This role requires working closely with Australian management and Australian technical leaders to develop a deep understanding of Quantium quality standards and the capability to build and manage a team in India to consistently deliver Quantium quality.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive and continuously engage with stakeholders on development of analytics solutions
  • Communicate and translate business needs against analytics solutions or outcomes to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Form effective partnerships with mid to senior stakeholders to achieve goals

 

  • Set and prioritise the roadmap when considering "analytics as a product" over a 3-to-6-month time horizon, helping to shape and influence the mid to long-term vision and goals working closely with the Executive Manager
  • Review production code, be analytically responsible for output. Build and review forecasting models
  • Pro-actively seeks to link analytical outputs to commercial outcomes and size their impact and implications across broader scope
  • Strategically plan and direct work for a production pipeline. Make a sensible trade-off between maintainability / resilience and speed of implementation
  • Explain commercial decisions to team
  • Guide data exploration / investigations, transformations and understands trade-offs between competing technical and commercial priorities. Update model pipelines on GPUs, API calls and production data pipelines
  • Talent recruitment, development and management of the Quantium India Analytics function
  • Build, lead and manage a high performing team of analytics and technical people of the size and quality required to support the global Quantium business and to improve the overall technical capability of the India office
  • Work with other members of the Indian management team to build a culture in the Hyderabad office aligned with the global Quantium culture

Key Activities

  • Support solution design. Apply technical strategic thinking on maintainability and future efficiency
  • Work with project teams to design and develop solutions to address business and client needs
  • Proactively identify challenges faced by project teams and work with relevant stakeholders to ensure delivery is not impacted
  • Champion analytics best practice to ensure quality objectives are met for all projects delivered by the India team
  • Oversee project delivery to ensure projects are on time and on budget
  • Understand projects from a deep technical perspective and appreciate the teams’ perspective in guiding them as a technical analytical leader
  • Develop and implement reporting to track and measure project and team performance metrics
  • Guide team leads or senior analytics to come up with an accurate estimates of work effort, timeframes for deliverables
  • Work with the Indian recruiting team to attract and recruit high performing staff and support the global business with recruitment efforts where required
  • Develop and manage staff performance including setting objectives and KPIs, career mentoring, career path development and execution of annual / bi-annual reviews
  • Work to motivate and engage the India teams to ensure high job satisfaction, low attrition and meaningful career progression
  • Develop and implement a plan to grow capability within the India team to achieve identified capability standards

Skills and Knowledge Required

 

  • Strong coding proficiency in either Python or R (required)
  • Experience coding in SQL advantageous
  • Understands and puts in practice source code control / versioning frameworks using tools like Git
  • Experience using cloud storage and analytics platforms such as GCP, AWS, Azure advantageous
  • Forecasting experience preferred but not required

 

  • Experience using GBM (XGBoost) advantageous
  • Experience in designing and maintaining a production data pipeline (to feed predictive models)
  • Experience developing and reviewing predictive / ML models on structured datasets (at scale)
  • Experience deploying predictive / ML models into production (at scale), involving E2E running of data pipelines, scoring, and monitoring
  • Experience with automated model maintenance frameworks advantageous
  • Experience working with ML engineers (MLOps) advantageous
  • Understand agile frameworks and able to tailor the ways of working to drive development and improve the team experience
  • Retail experience preferred but not required

Experience and Education Required

  • 6+ years’ experience in an analytics environment, leading data analytics or data science projects. Tertiary qualifications in engineering, mathematics, actuarial studies, statistics, physics, or a related discipline
  • Experience working within one of Quantium’s key industry verticals, either as an external or internal consultant desirable
  • Solid experience and knowledge of technical analytics, including data preparation, foundational analytics concepts, analytical model development, model operationalisation, model performance measurement, model management and model training
  • Commercial acumen to understand business needs and be able to suggest the commercial impacts of different analytics solutions or approaches
  • Demonstrable ability to proactively identify, understand and translate strategic business needs into technical opportunities and solutions for new and existing clients to build lasting partnerships. Ability to translate complex analytics, insights and/or outcomes into presentations (written and verbal) to senior stakeholders (both internal and external) in simple terms demonstrating value to the business
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in project management and inspirational leadership, including effective delegation and management of multi-skilled team, to deliver projects on time and on budget
  • Experience in managing and coaching the performance and development of others by bringing out the best in them
  • Experience using team collaboration tools like Jira and Confluence and driving adoption across the team
  • Experience working in cross-discipline teams and understands what / when different roles are required to complete tasks
  • Experience driving development and team collaboration across multiple office locations and time zones advantageous
  • Collaborative and engaging style with an ability to understand what matters to stakeholders
